Who will play the point? Francis would have to leave and Marc Jackson is a free agent (also, he is too old). Can the Rockets go after a free agent PG like Troy Hudson or Derek Fisher (if he decides to opt out)?
It looks like we have a backup PG from this thread: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78953 But I think we might go after Brent Barry. That would be an awesome lineup.
i say we draft chris duhon if he's available. i know he's not gonna be a superstar pg, but what he brings to the table is good. he takes care of the ball and is smart, and he can knock down the open jumper. i just think he'd look great in the rox uni...
I found this on Clutch's sig! I think it pretty much sums up the asnwer to your question. BTW, Clutch...that gif is great! http://www.clutchfans.net/images/vote_brent_barry.gif
We could use our MLE or the 6.9M Trade Exception to pair with a player to trade for a PG. We have options.
We could bring back one of the following: Melvin Booker Eldridge Recasner Emanuel "E-Mail" Davis Bryce Drew Brent Price Matt Maloney
Bring back? Hell were still paying Matt Maloney, just tell him to get his butt in here and earn his paycheck.
Smarty Jones. That dudes a hoss. I'd also like to see Damon Jones given a chance. Bring him back in, you know he wants to play here.
Thank you. Finally someone is remembering that the Rockets have a pretty good sized trade exception. If the proposed deal with the Orlando Magic does happen, then the Rockets will definitely make other moves as well with this TE. Most notably going after a point guard.
Agreed. Problem is that he's really high maintenance. He needs his own travel and lodging accomodations. Not to mention, his previous owner really pampered him.
Yeah I am not sure Les will go for oat bags in the locker room and sugar cubes during Time Outs. But he will definitely be a stud soon. I am also concerned that some of the stronger players may ride him into a bad position, and that JVG may not be able to rein him in.
I agree Crisco ... Damon does want to play here and we should be jumping at the opportunity. He was at least in the top three in assists to turnover ratio last year. Last time I checked he was averaging 4.68 assists to one 1 turnover. Thats pretty incredible. Considering we could probably get him for roughly 4-5 million a year, and he led the improbable Milwaukee Bucks to the playoffs this year; its a pretty smart move for the Rockets to make. Of course this is assuming that McGrady comes here Thursday. Granted if we had the opportunity to lure Brent Barry, he'd be my first choice, but realistically speaking, we're more inclined to lure Damon Jones. Last I heard the Barry Brothers were talking about playing together somewhere this year. I love this lineup. Damon Jones/ Backup PG (Ollie)? / Mike Wilks Tracy McGrady/ Pike?/ Free Agent Jim Jackson / Bostjan Nachbar Juwan Howard/ Maurice Taylor Yao Ming/ I'd like to see Elden Campbell here
Isn't Juwan a jumpshooting PF just like Mo, with little defense? But, hmm, what teams would want to trade for Mo? Any way we can get a bit more balanced PF, for Mo Taylor? And, I'd rather start Boki than JJ. To really give him more room to develope and to not over use JJ as we did last season, to the point where he wore out in the playoffs.
Philadelphia would trade Snow and McKie for Taylor. They make more money then Mo when you combine their salaries, and each have longer deals individually.
Okay, but why would Houston do it. Snow may have some game left but it's time to put McKie out to pasture.
Because JVG loves both players, both are tough, smart veterans who play good defense and have excellent character, and because McKie shot 43% from three point range last season.
We need a guy like Van Exel. Somebody who can fire it up and dish the ball. Snow is slow, and couldn't hit a three to save his life.
