    See poll.

For everyone talking about his flaws... let's remember if he didn't have those flaws, he wouldn't have gotten traded to the Rockets for Francis and Cat.

TMac is what he is, there is no point in complaining.

Lock the thread. This is stupid. Make a real poll, or don't bother posting your thread. We don't need this crap.

Weird poll where all the options are the same. What is there to vote if all the same.

It's a good point, and I think it puts things in proper perspective. We all thought that the McGrady trade was a steal. In fact, it was a good trade, but it's not like we got Kobe Bryant in exchange for spare parts. McGrady is a flawed player. I still think he can be a significant part of an elite team, but I've lost any hope that he can carry an elite team. We're all angry at him for that shortcoming, but as you say that's just who he is. And it's why we were able to get him in the first place.

It's interesting as an experiment to see if the votes will be evenly distributed (as of my vote, they were not).

Those of you saying to lock this thread are missing the point. Although I was ready to vote for an option "better than Kobe"...

How come the 3rd option has more votes than the first 2 combined? You guys are so biased!

This thread could have been good if the poll options were previous basketball greats. Like, if Tracy had more heart he could be MJ, Clyde, Kobe, Dominique, Dr. J and just use those as poll options. But besides that stupid thread Carl Herrera, and I usually love your posts.

To elaborate, I agree that not having "fire" is a flaw that Tracy has. Just like some players lack 3-point shooting or good defense, Tracy's deficiency is heart. What I think annoys people is that he teases us with flashes of it (Shawn Bradley dunk, 13pt in 30 sec, etc) but doesn't really have it consistantly or when we need him to.

It's also annoying because it's a deficiency that seems totally unreasonable. I mean, if 20,000 fans in the TC can get psyched up about a game, why can't he?

And he got traded because of problems with Weisbrod their GM. He quit on the team and wanted to be traded so either way he would have been a rocket.

I don't get why people say this...he has the 3rd highest playoff PPG average in NBA HISTORY, has came up big in both playoff series' the Rockets have had him in (incuding a big game 7 vs Utah), and the guy has led the Rockets to 2 50 win seasons.

I agree he doesn't have it consistently, but neither does Kobe. neither does Arenas. Neither does AI. Neither does Carmelo. Neither does Carter. Streak scorers do not shoot good-great percentages every game. At least unlike many other swingman he is a terrific passer and usually excels in that category when he struggles with his shot.

When Yao was asked about the horrible free throw shooting from the Rockets, he said he will shoot 100 free throws in a row (even though he is our best free throw shooter) b/c he is always striving to do better.

When Tmac was asked about the missed free throws, he says the fans made it worse by expressing their frustration. So instead of taking responsibility for being a PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE NBA, Tmac blames it on the fans. Tmac IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE A LEADER B/C HE CAN NEVER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS OWN ACTIONS!!!!

Stupid thread. How many of these are needed? T-Mac wanted out of Orlando because his supporting cast sucked. Not even Kobe would have got them out the 1st round.

Okay, i m gonna start a new Poll:

If Yao had Dwight Howard's athleticism, T-mac would be...
    Option1 - an Orlando Magic
    Option2 - an Orlando Magic
    Option3 - an Orlando Magic

The Houston Rockets will be opening the season as 3 times defending Champion. Francis and Cat will still be a Rocket as there is no point in trading for T-mac.

Conclusion? Yao is who he is, there is no point in complaining :D

If Mcgrady had more dedication and fire, he would be...

In my opinion, this question is pretty invalid, thats like saying Garnett doesn't have fire and passion when clearly he is leading the league in NBA All-Star votes. Not only this but his team also hold the best record in the NBA. Need more?

If you don't remember WHY T-mac was traded, it wasn't because Orlando wanted to trade him, they were more forced to trade him because he had no desire to be there. Yes, he was being a very big punk when he sat out games, and didn't try his hardest, but let me tell you something, if you saw that Press Conference that T-mac had when he first came to Houston, he wanted to be here, he wanted to win.

The only problem is that, in my opinion T-mac has lost sight of the main goal, the main mission and without him regaining that killer instinct, there's not much we can do. When you see him play in the games this year, he wants to win but he doesn't put everything on the line to win, and that's what is missing.

    Good point. Stupid thread.

How many superstars are there in this league who are probably considered "flawless" or "nearly flawless" by their fans?

Duncan is the only one I can think of.

I'm not trying to take anything away from him talent-wise, but in my opinion he doesn't have 1/2 the passion for the game as Kobe, Gilbert, or AI. (Maybe some of the passion Gil displays is for himself, but it's still passion damnit).

I'm not saying he disappears in the play-offs, but I truly think if he displayed Kobe-like desire to win, it would have lifted the Rockets over Dallas and Utah.
