NBA basketball and can show that he can bring more more overall team point production to the floor than when Steve is handling the point, it might illustrate the need for the Rockets to make a move in the offseason to get a good passer for the team. This is asking a lot though since Mark Jackson wasn't picked up by another NBA team probably because he has almost no fuel left in the tank. Mark Jackson probably watched the last few games by the Rockets, and he's got a gleam in his eye. With Cuttino, Maurice, JJ, and Yao on the floor at the same time, he's got to be able to find someone in a position to score every single possession.

That's true. A lot of pro-Francis fans will see with their own eyes the importance of a PG with great passing skills. It just makes scoring that much more effortless when a PG can setup those scores. Once Rocket fans get a taste of it, they wont want anything less.

John Lucas and Sam Cassell were the best passing PG the Rockets ever had. Jackson is better than both. It's going to be interesting to see if Mark Jackson can get in shape and keep up physically.

The fact that we got a real point guard, even though a 38 year-old backup, excited me more than Yao's hot streak lately. :D

This is not a anti-Francis thread. It's meant to focus on roles of players on the court. I'm just saying that IF Mark Jackson is able to create more team point production when he is on the court with a majority of the starters, it should lend some creedence to the necessity of a passer in a spread out offense like the Rockets have because if a nearly retired passer can get the team flowing smoothly offensively, what would a young, vibrant passer do?

Are you talking about Jason Williams? White Chocolate? The Jason Williams who would put the "fun" back in "fundamentals," the "it" in "Gets It," the "ass" in "assists," and the "fan" back in the seats?!

When did I say the Rockets need to trade Stevie? I said the Rockets are going to see if an old, decrepit passer in Mark Jackson can bring more fluidity to this offense than it can with Steve at the point. I never mentioned trading Steve at all.

I think the fact that so many people are excited about the signing of 38 years old Mark Jackson tells a lot about the quality of SF's pg plays.
Hopefully, SF will be benefitted from the precense of Mark.
Either Steve or Cat has to matured to be a true leader and just stopped those bonehead plays for the Rox to succeed.

I think the higher scoring and the wins tells more about SF and the effect of getting Yao involved.

Ummm, no I don't think anyone was talking about Jason Williams. He has a nice assist-to-turnover ratio, but what's with his low minutes this year? 29 mpg is less than Yao!

Does anyone else fancy white chocolate as the solution to our problems? I'd rather gamble on Steve getting "it".

We've already seen how the offense hums when Steve is looking to get everyone involved. If Jackson can have the same effect for 15 minutes a night, great. If not, we give Wilks a try.

I'm telling you this moron is on a mission to pick on every YOF as he sees it, especially Asian or new members, on SF's behalf.

You're absolutely right we need a good passing PG coming off the bench and letting Cuttino and Steve play fewer minutes. But the Rockets are well aware of this, that's why they got 38 yr old, almost washed up Mark Jackson.

He's getting only 29 minutes because Hubie Brown is very very old school. Pau Gasol, the best player on that team, is only getting that many. He works on a STRICT rotation system where he plays all his players.

J-Will is great for that system. I don't know if he could do the same for us, JVG is not as hard ass as Hubie Brown is. But if the exact same player were moved onto the Rockets today, he'd be exactly what we need.
