Would he miss a shot because nobody could see it?

Last night was rediculous. I have never been a fan of Bryant's, but - damn - what a performance!

Anyway, to the game. This post should make heypartner happy because I am not throwing out any blame.

Yes, we could have won in the 4th, but didn't. Oh well.

For about 5 minutes, we could not score. I think it was not so much Rudy/Mobley's fault as it was just facing a better team. LA has learned how to close out now. They can pick up their D at any time.

I was, quite honestly, amazed that it was so close. Consider this:

    1. Steve was hurt, defended by one of the better defenders in the league - who just happens to be about 4 inches taller than him.

Steve not only was hurt to start the game, but re-injured himself making a "hustle play" during. Did you see his face as soon as he fell down? He knew what he had done and was upset.

So Steve was not very aggresive - he did not seem too intent to force the issue, he tried to help without hurting.

    2. Mobley was hurt. He also had a solid, taller defender (Harper) on him most of the time. He was, however, effective against Rider.

    3. Hakeem had to defend Shaq almost all of the game. The other options were injured Cato (who did well considering - but will get called for a foul if he looks at Shaq funny), 6'7" KT - didn't last. So Hakeem had to waste a great deal of energy getting fouled by Shaq. Anyone see that elbow Shaq threw into his ribs? Pain.

Still, he played admirably. Until the end - when it fell apart for everyone - he was effective against Shaq.

    4. It cannot get too much better for the Lakers. Kobe went off and was unstoppable, Shaq was solid all-around (six assists?!?), Fox had one of those one in 20 games where he produced, Rider had a small, quick burst of offense. Game.

Yet the Rockets hung with a superior team that was playing well, despite having key injuries.

Yeah, we suck. Season is a waste, time to whine and cry.

    If I must whine, though:

3 on 1 break, Mobley with the ball - Steveie streaking to the basket, Wizard there too. Ball thrown 5 feet behind steve and 10 feet into the air - no basket, turnover. [IMG]

yes on the last line. The transition game continues to be atrocious. Damn!! Really bad.

The other thing that is amazing is when we were up by 7 in the 4th, we start double teaming Kobe. It did not matter. He finds Fox twice and Horry once. Crap! There is nothing I hate more than to see Rick Fox nail 3's in the 4th quarter.

You know Kobe called this his best game EVER as a pro. It's in the Chronicle.

I made it to the game last nite
and must say this, . . .I LOVE THIS GAME
I was so busy following the action it
did not really track the score after every
    basket.

    I realize LAKER FANS SUCK
When Francis went down . .. one goes
STAY DOWN . . I HOPE HE'S Out for the game
[I never like someone to wish ill on another
    person . . . I try not to myself. . .]
I looked around cause I thought it was Tonya
harding but it was a male b*tch
    Anywho
I noticed KT on shaq and nearly laffed
The thing that amazed me is that the
    lakers did not take advantage
[I of course commented that it was because of
the GREAT RESPECT they have for KT ;-)]

I think we lost this game when walt came in
When we called the time out with like
4 minutes left. I prayed they would not
put in bullard. . . they did me one better
    THEY PUT IN WALT

The 3 guard line up was going good.
Moochie, Francis, Mobely, Dream and Mo.
If moo needed a rest . . .put in frickin'
    KT, , . . LANGHI . . . .SHANDON. .. .
    NOT WALT OR BULLARD
Defense was the order of the day. . .not Offense.

We were only down like 2~4 pts at that point.

    Cato is still hurt?

geez, these injured people need to rest up.

I don't care if it is the Lakers, there are some other players that can use some PT too.

Congrats on seeing the game live River. It was a fantastic game.

I actually thought Moochie was getting really stagnant there. imo, I thought he got pulled for two bad decisions in a row. The Lakers change their D on the pick n roll Moochie and Hakeem were torching them with. Moochie didn't respond well. He got stuck on the baseline.

Walt was finally having a good shooting game, too.

    heyp,

You are right - he had two really bad plays in a row - he was yanked. As he was going to the bench, he threw out his mouthpiece and seemed to be shaking his head in disgust with himself.

Walt had made some clutch shots earlier.

If Kobe was alone in the woods it would be his dream come true, no one could take the ball from him. [IMG]

If Kobe Bryant was alone in the woods, the refs would still find a way to call a foul on Kenny Thomas [IMG].

I really wish rudy would give dan the MAN more PT. all he needs is some time to prove his worth to this team and to the league. He has better D than both walt and bull, and he has their shots + athleticism. I wish we could see MO of him.

Smegg: Do you think that the Lakers would be better going to Shaq more? At first, I thought so... but I've seen the lakers play three times now... and I'm not so sure. Shaq is great, but Kobe might be as good or better now, and I think it's easier for a guard to get his teammates involved than a C.

Besides, Kobe's % is still pretty good for a guard, and he doesn't seem to be playing selfishly. I really just think he's coming into his own, and might just have more talent.

I thought this topic would be more geared to a "I would shoot Kobe in the head" finish to the topic hook. I guess I was wrong, its a mere philosophical reflection ala Phil Jackson and stuff. =)

God I am really hating Kobe as much as I hated Jordan now. (I'm like the only guy)

    To good isn't very fun.
