He was the perfect coach for our guys (Yao, TMac). We also had the best damn defense in rockets history.
Equally hilarious is the "shock her with your penis size" image that is somehow relevant to if JVG wants his job back, lmao. and this one what kind of adsense are you using Clutch? ahh well, it doesn't matter. good for laughs on a horrible night for the rockets.
easy. just give him some martini before and after the game (don't let stern know), he'd be fired up. jack daniels would do, too. i know i know...
Current winning % = 0.625 BEST winning % under Gundy = 0.634 Winning % before we lost a SHOCKER to Washington = 0.645 Winning % if we win our next game = 0.636 So a win in our next game will see us with a better winning % than we ever had under Gundy - and our defense last season was better than it had been ANY season under Gundy (2nd in the league last season is our best mark in YEARS). What the heck do we want Gundy back for? I mean the guy is great, but Adelman is clearly superior (even if we're frustrated right now) - and no matter how much we THINK we're stinking right now, we're doing better than we did under the gund.
Wait, do you know what I'm referencing? I know you're a rook, but I thought you knew: Clutchfans April Fools!
I will say this, under JVG we NEVER lost to these teams. He would never let us lose to the crummy teams, especially at home. I think the real problem was our record against other playoff teams, which is why he was fired...but man did he get us to not underestime a team like the Wizards. I mean the score mighta been 81-75, but we would have won
As much as RA screwed up in crunch times, and as much as I agreed that JVG would've done a much better job when it comes to crunch time, AND as much as I agreed that JVG would've done a much better job against the Wizards IN crunch time, I'm going to say this is just a knee-jerk reaction thread. With all the health issues, new players, chemistries and new roles in our teams. We're doing relatively well. Yes, no way are we "well" enough, but we've made considerable effort in being the best. Every team hits a brick wall once in a while, and we just hit ours. I'm not in the position to say we're done, we are not close to done. We are having difficult chemistry problems with all the players going on and off courts. That being said, I have high expectations of RA after the first half of the season is over. I do not expect him to bring us to another 22 game win-streak, but I do expect him to take us deep in the playoffs.
I agree that Adelman is better than JVG, but to play devil's advocate, take a look at the roster the rockets had under the JVG era and compare it to the ones last year and especially the one this year. The coach can only do so much if he doesn't have the necessary talent to succeed. So far, their records have been nearly identical. 55 wins under Adelman in 2007 and 52 wins under JVG in 2006. One could make the argument that JVG can coach the current Rockets lineup as far as Adelman can.
I love Van Gundy but to bring him back would be a knee-jerk reaction. Adelman is fine, he just needs to have some healthy players. Van Gundy would have us a good 5 more wins at this point in the season but going into the playoffs if we're healthy it shouldn't matter who the coach is.
