OK, I'm not saying something stupid scenarios, like trade Shaq for Bullard, or Odom for Drew, or something impossible that no one would do, but in light of stuff we've heard that's realistic and possible, good luck coming our way, and teams giving us our draft picks, what's your dream scenario? We can only do this until we find out Sunday who gives us what and how the balls fall.

    Here's mine:
    <OL>
[*] We get in the top 3 of the lottery, and pick Swift.
[*] We trade KT to Orlando and the pick they owe us for their #10, and we pick Miles.
[*] We trade Cato to Detroit for Jerome Williams and they also give us the pick they owe us at #14, where we pick Deshawn Stephenson. (thanks Clutch, NIKEstrad for the corrections - I hope you don't mind me editing this post.)
[*] We trade Drew and our exception to LAC for Kandi.
    [/list=a]

    That would give us:

    Dream/Kandi/TMass
    Swift/Williams/Rogers
    Wiz/Miles/Bullard
    Anderson/Mobely/Stephenson
    Francis/Norris

Exciting athletic team for the future! Rebuilding pretty much done, except for the final center piece, such as Webber or Duncan or Wallace, etc ...

I'm not sure how realistic of a dream that is... but I'll give you that it's a dream.

One thing though: Jerome Williams is on Detroit.

    okay, why not.

    Quasi-REALISTIC dream.

    Rockets get #3 and Swift.

Rockets use trade exception + KT to somehow get Austin Croshere.

Rocks trade Drew,Cato for Kandi and Nesby

that would be an okay lineup.

    Francis/Moochie
    SA/Mobes
    Wiz/Nesby
    Dream/Kandi
    Swift/Croshere

sounds like a good line up to me. Just need some more 7 footer to replace Hakeem ...

    Cato is 7 feet tall.

I don't see Miles being there at #10....I personally think #9 could be a stretch.

Detroit has pick #14, not #12 (DeShawn still would be there)

I think we might need to put a little more into the Kandi trade than Drew, but they may be desperate for a PG...and they do like Drew. I think Cato, Drew, KT, and our pick (if it was #9) for Kandi and their #1 (if we were to somehow not win the lottery) is workable.

    Here's my dream scenario:
-We pick 3rd the lottery, nab Swift

-Trade: Drew, KT, small portion of exception, 2nd rounder for Olowakandi, #18 (Olumide Oyededji....if need be, and not too far, we trade up a spot or two to nab him, basically for the pick and cash, maybe a future something, or Los)

    -Orlando gives us #13 (Stevenson).

    Lineup:
Hakeem/Cato/Kandi (all three can also play PF)
    Swift/Oyededji
Williams/Stevenson (so he's really an SG...he can still grow, and he's a good enough rebounder to play here)
    Anderson/Mobley
    Francis/Moochie

We'd now have 5 capable (when healthy) big men, but keep in mind: Hakeem won't play too much; Oyededji is 19....will be mainly a backup; Swift is a rookie, will still be learning, and under an apprenticeship as well, so mainly Cato/Kandi up front. I personally think that we could then have the ability to go to a 3 guard lineup, when you have 2 shot blockers (4 of the 5 could be capable of 2 a game.....only Kandi probably isn't) up front to cover up mistakes. Phoenix post Finley went with a starting lineup of 6'4'' Kidd, 6'1'' Johnson, 6'4'' Chapman, 6'9'' McDyess, 6'10'' Robinson. That is REALLY short. Oyededji would give the front line some toughness, and brings rebounding. Cato is your uh.....shotblocker, Hakeem is the crafty veteran, Kandi is the hasn't reached ceiling young guy, and Swift is the emerging star. All 6'9'' and up, solves big man problem (I'd hope), and none are space cloggers. We'd have another potential superstar in Stevenson, who wouldn't play major minutes just yet, but eventually, a team like this would go 10 deep.

    Enough of my dreamcasting [IMG]

I would be happy if this happened this offseason.

    1. Rockets win a top 3 pick in the lottery and draft Stromile Swift
    2. Sign and trade Drew and/or future first rounders with the 4.5 mil exception for Bo Outlaw

That would give an SL of Cato, Swift, Outlaw, Anderson, Francis

Thomas, Rogers, Williams, Mobley, Norris off the bench

I really like the idea of Bo Outlaw, but I wouldn't play him alongside Cato too much. That leaves you with 2 guys in your SL that are not offensive threats. This of course would lead to more double teams on Francis, and hence, more turnovers by Stevie (is that possible? [IMG] ).

I do like the idea of spacing the playing time of Outlaw and Cato, so that there is always a legitimate shotblocker on the floor at all times.

My dream would be to aquire Kandi from the Clippers using Drew + the exception without losing Cato. A little intense grooming of both by the Rocket's staff and Dream may help them both realize their potential and set us at center for the future.

I don't know much about college ball, so I don't really know whom I would pick in the draft or which players I would give up to trade up.

Trade Cato (and Rogers) to Orlando for Outlaw (sign and trade) and their late lottery pick - If they cannot woo da big 2. I think since they have cap space that they can do this.

Trade Drew, the late pick we just got from Orlando in the Cato trade, and part of the exception for Rashard Lewis (sign and trade)

Hopefully get lucky as hell - go top 3 and choose a big man - Swift or even Mihm since we would have Rashard.

    Olajuwon/Mihm/Tmass - eventually Mihm
    Outlaw/KT
    Williams/Lewis/Bullard - eventually Lewis
    Anderson/Mobley
    Francis/Norris
We could even keep Pig! with a back strain or something.
We could give so many different looks with everyone on this team able to play 2-3 positions
It does not seem like there is anyone that we cannot match up with.

Getting rid of Massenburg and the other players we are paying for, obtaining somehow Rashard Lewis (maybe for the Wizard) and Stromile Swift (per Draft) and trading Cato, Drew and the exception for Odom.

    Olajuwon
    Swift
    Odom
    Anderson
    Francis

    Mobley
    Lewis
    Norris
    Rogers
    Miller
    Bullard

1)Rocks get the first overall pick.
2)Hill leaves Detroit for us thru sign-and-trade deal for The Wizard.
3)Duncan leaves S.A. for us thru sign-and-trade deal for Cato.
4)Dream gets traded to Vancouver for Rahim.

    Here is our lineup:
    C- Duncan
    PF - Swift
    SF - Hill
    SG - Anderson
    PG - Francis

    Bench:
    Mobley
    Moochie
    Drew
    TMass
    KT
    Bullard

    Then I wake up HAHAHAHA!

My dream is a nightmare, we get lucky with the ping-pong balls and land the 3rd pick in the draft, but Kenyon Martin and Stromile Swift are already taken. I'd be heart-broken if we had to settle for Chris Mihm or Marcus Fizer. Supposedly Mihm can shoot from outside and has soft hands (skills that the other young Rocket's big men lack and that might complement our style of play), but he reminds me too much of Jon Koncak or Joe Cline. They were promising Southwest Conference (back when they played) seven-footers too. Yuck!!! IMO, Mihm just isn't the answer as a defender/rebounder in the paint. Fizer may be an ok PF for some NBA team, but he is just plain and simple to darn short for the Rocket's front line. The Rockets already have a short team in general. If you ask me, I'd be holding my breath with the third pick. IMO the impact players are Martin and Swift.

Trades: Drew for Shaq, Bullard for Odom, Cato for Shareef

Free agents: Tim Duncan with 2.3 exception, Grant Hill for league minimum, Rashard Lewis for league minimum, Cuttino Mobley

Draft: Rockets win lottery, draft Swift

    Lineup
    Shaq
    Duncan
    Shareef
    Hill
    Francis

Bench: Moochie, Mobley, Odom, Lewis, Swift

    Swami

Just make your dream have the Bulls pick 2nd. They'll take Mihm, because they're the Bulls.
