With the new rule (one time) for this summer enabling the teams to waive one player to save the potential luxury tax, a lot of overpiad players could be waived and be available to be picked as free agent. Which one of these would you like to be a rocket for MLE?

I take Wally only because he's the youngest of the bunch. Ratliff, Webber, Davis, all the PFs are old and rickety and none of the perimeter guys have the athleticism to give us the defense we need. So, I guess you go with the guy who sucks the least. I would say Grant Hill, but there's no way in hell we'd get him.

Chris Webber is pretty much a perfect fit. Strong Rebounder and a great jump shot. Though I think Grant Hill fills a much needed void as well. Healthy Allan Houston fills the other need. Can we get all three. :)

where is the option for none...

come on people... these are all players with attitude problems who want money and are aging quickly.

no thanks to every single one

Could someone explain to me this new CBA rule, how it works and doesn't, how it will affect FA, and an example of how it would work for us this summer?

Only teams over the Lux tax would cut a player. They still need to pay the player his full salary and his salary still is against the salary cap. How many teams are expected to be over the Lux tax next year? 3-4 maybe?

NY Knicks, maybe the Mavs any other teams? Most of the players above won't get cut because their team is not near the Lux tax level.

I'd take Hill but there's no way the Magic would cut him.

Could we cut Juwan Howard with this one time deal? I like the guy but he is signed for way to long.

    A. Davis??? seriously, there about 10 A. Davis' in the league. i'm assuming that's antonio davis but you have to be a little more specific. and the last guy i would take is wally sczerbiak. his attitude and selfishness is top 5 in the league. jon barry is a much better alternative to that clown. i like ratliff and hill. they're older but they are guys who play team basketball and are still productive and fill needs.

...each team will be given a one-time option this summer to waive one player from its roster and receive luxury tax relief. The team will still have to pay the player and his salary will still count against the cap, but the team won't have to pay a luxury tax on his salary. For example, the Knicks' Allan Houston might a candidate to be waived because of this rule.

I voted for Allen Houston because he is still a lights out shooter who knows how JVG does things. He could put up over the top.

I'd pick him too, but only for the minimum or maybe the LLE. Houston is coming off a $100+ million contract. If he can't give his old coach a decent discount then who will.

I'de pick up Webber. I know he has lost a lot in terms of athleticism and power but he is exactly what we need: A strong rebounder with a great mid range jump shot who can guard the West's power forwards as well as anyone.

If Portland dumps a player, it is probably going to Derek Anderson. They are probably a good trading candidate though. We could probably give them expirings and our pick or whatever besides the big 2 for some taking Anderson and Miles off their hands and getting them to waive Theo, so we could sign him. Only thing is, he has to clear waivers. Somebody might pick him up. How about the #3, DA, and Miles, for some expirings and our #24????

You just described everything that C. Webber is NOT: defend opposing PF and strong rebounder

By the way, I'd still like to see Jalen Rose running the point with TMac.

Jalen Rose can still play, and would make a nice 2 next to Tmac. Even better in a package with Donyell Marshall.

Could you entice a team like NJ to cut Jason Kidd or Vince Carter? Could Memphis cut white chocolate? What's the rule on that thing, anyway?

If you put Szczerbiak on this team and gave him the looks that Wesley got last year, he would hit over 50% from 3 point land. If/when defenses finally adjusted, both Yao & T-Mac would see their shooting percentages go up another 5-10% based on Wally alone. I'm not sure about his defense, but he is the ideal SG for our offense. Add a penetrating/passing PG & a decent backup PF and we are a contender from Day 1!
