I'm dying at work this week, Monday game last until 1230, i have to get up at 630 for work, and I dont sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, i lie there thinking about the game for the next 30 - 45 minutes, so I end up getting like 5 hours of sleep on game nights.....and I end up feeling like crap at work the next day, sleepy eyed, staring at a computer and not being able to keep my eyes open, bags under my eyes...so..what are some ideas to be able to get 8 hours of sleep and still watch the game? I can DVR the game but by the time I get to watch it the next day everyone will have already told me the score and it's just not the same watching it live...i've thought about possibly DVRing the game, going to bed extra early and waking up early around 5ish..and watching a shortened version of it bc i can fast foward through the commericals....but then, i wont be able to sleep bc i will be thinking of the game and waking up to watch it...anyone else have problems like this?

I was lucky enough to be scheduled for second shift this week. I miss the first 5 to 8 minutes of the game, but I can get as much sleep as I want. :D

Portland's 9 PM starts were tough, 9:30 PM is even worse.

im in australia, 10 30 pm ET for USA is around 12:30pm here, which has resulted in me skipping all my classes everytime rockets are playing :(

anyway perhaps one way you can help offset your lack of sleep (some people cannot do this) is have an afternoon nap after u get home from work, get your 1-2 hour power nap, wake up, watch the game, go to bed, and hopefully the power nap would have compensated for the lost hours of sleep... maybe? just throwing up crazy ideas, anyway i feel your pain too buddy... falling so far behind in my workload, just hope my group members for my assignments dont surf clutchfans hahaha otherwise my excuses for not turning up to meetings will fail :(

Hahaha, I told my co-worker that the playoffs is messing up my sleep schedule...I wake up either 6:30 or 7 for work. I don't go to sleep right away after the games because I'm too wired. I end up getting 5 hours of sleep. I need 7-8 hours of sleep to function.

I guess we gotta suck it up because we're in the second round!!!

You all have it easy. I have to be up by 3am. At that point there is no sense in even trying to get an hour or two of sleep.

I'm in TOTAL agreement on this. West Coast or not, there is zero reason games should start that late.

Do they have NBA Finals games @ 9:30? I'm legitimately curious. I'd like to see if they pull this on folks from the east coast.

    biphasic sleeping.

though it's probably too late for you to adjust now as you will still feel like crap in the initial adjustment process.

Go to sleep an hour earlier than normal time, get your 7-8 hours of sleep, DVR the game and watch it before you go to work (assuming you are forwarding through all commercials and going at 1x speed watching the game).

This has been a problem for me since the playoffs started. This week especially.

In my younger days, these late games were never a problem. But nowadays, it’s not as easy as it used to be to deal with them the next day. Especially if it was a particularly exciting game like Monday’s, since it takes me a while to ‘wind down’, like others have mentioned. I tend to be pretty grumpy at work when I don’t get a good night’s sleep.

I actually called in sick yesterday just to try and catch up on my sleep. Funny, everyone at work knows EXACTLY why I called in...

I’m going to try and take a nap before tonight’s game. This is not as easy as it sounds, since 7 to 9 is prime ‘baby makin’ time’ and the wife doesn’t like to skip a day… ;)

I'm glad we're not in the Eastern time zone...

    Deal with it.

But in all seriousness, this is one thing i like about living on the West Coast. I tape my games and as soon as i get home i start watching it on the DVR.

East Coast: game didn't end till 2:00

before game 2 of the portland game, i took and nap. that would've worked fine if not for the hangover. can't do that tonight (or last monday) due to a little league game.

i was fine yesterday...somehow a win makes me less tired. :)

I've experienced this. It is a TERRIBLE idea to try and get an hour or two of sleep. Minus well not sleep at all.

Anyways, take a nap before the game. I usually have to be up for work at around 6 or so.

    Nice shower helps also.

... oh, and there's always cocaine.
