So the idea is this, either of these guys can be the lead attacker/initiator in a set, and so far it seems like the way we distribute possessions is consistently something like, Harden uses X possessions, Dwight gets Y Possessions, and etc for everyone else and there are no set plays. Sometimes we need to call sets to exploit matchups because most of our guys are extremely versatile. But I think we're not taking advantage of matchups as much as we should. For example, if we're playing Golden State, and Harden draws Iguodala, and Lin draws Curry, who is more likely to have a successful attack? Historically, Iguodala gives Harden a lot of trouble while Lin can almost blow by Curry at will. If the Warriors do something like move Klay Thompson onto Lin, and Curry on Parsons, we should let Parsons just shoot over him all day, etc. This is not unlike how other teams have been taking advantage of Harden. If you watch the Suns abuse Roy Hibbert with a super small ball lineup for top of the key 3's, our team is capable of doing similar things. We seem to go with a small lineup with Jones as the 5, but it's probably to go with Casspi in some situations and just launch top of key 3's against paint defenders who like to sit in the paint. The coaches need to direct the ball to these matchups and that might reduce some of the "personal agenda" that McHale refers to.
