Could this trade help our team? Your thoughts.......

2 Secparate trades to get around the waiting period.

    Trade #1----(after Sept 1)
    Houston trades:
    Eric Paitkowski & Tyronn Lue

    Boston trades:
    Gary Payton

    Trade #2----
    Houston trades:
Clarence Weatherspoon & Bostjan Nachbar & Adrian Griffin

    Boston trades:
    Faef LaFrantz & Walter McCarty

This would help Boston to fix the point gaurd situation with Payton who said he would like to come to Houston; and get them some help at gaurd. They would get replacements for the lose of McCarty and they have several centers and LaFrantz will not start ahead of Blount.

This would help Houston by giving us a starting or back up point and it would give us a back up center (it is reported his knee is feeling better than it has in years) and it would give us a legit back up small forward.

    Your thoughts?

I wouldn't want to see GP in a Rockets uniform under any circumstances.

And I'd rather see if Boki can do anything this year rather than trading him for Raef.

So, for my money, no, and no.

    1) we shouldn't give up on Boki

    2) lefrentz has never over achieved or achieved for that matter

    3) and GP didn't feel comfortable getting set shots in LA, with T-Mac and Yao taking to bulk of the shots, that's all he gonna get. We have the scoring champing and the 2nd best center in the league, we're not running any plays for GP

in the end.............. No, to this trade

No on the Boki for LaFrentz trade. The first one is okay, but we still need another backup center/PF. Piatkowski would be the main piece if we trade for Mutombo.

    Dude.....Gary Payton sucks!
Maybe if he was about 5-6 years younger, but man it was painful to watch him in the playoffs last year.......

After punking Malone in the playoffs, Boki should be the 3rd untradeable guy on the team. Hell, I'd retire his jersey just for that playoff moment alone.

Lafrentz contract is even worse than Mo Taylor's. It's like 10 million a year or something. and he's not worth it specially comming out of injury

LaFrentz's contract might be the worst in the league. Is there a worse GM than Ainge?

No way do I want the long and big contract of Lafrentz with the long/big deals of Howard, and Taylor.

Ainge didn't give it to him. Cuban did. Is there a worse GM than Cuban, you mean.

But you don't see Cuban with that contract now, do you? Giving LaFrentz that contract may have been criminal, but Cuban didn't caught.
That being said, Cuban was foolish, but he's still one up on Ainge.

Also, you have to consider that Raef was seen as one of the better centers in the league when Cuban gave him the deal. Then he regressed horribly the next season and was routinely outplayed by Shawn Bradley. Then he got hurt.

Last few years have not been kind to Raef. Kinda sad, he was darn near dominant at Kansas. Back before he became a 3pt shooting sissy.

Ainge is a killer GM, and if you don't agree, that's fine. Just remember that when he took over, there wasn't a single tradeable player on that team other than Walker and Pierce, and not a single good young prospect. Thanks to Vinny Baker there was no hope of rebuilding outside of the draft, and in the weak Eastern conference the was no hope for a lottery pick. The C's were in limbo, kind of like where the Knicks are now, only not as good. Now, outside of Blount and LaFrentz, just about every player is a tradeable commodity, and with six young improving players there's plenty of room to grow. Ainge is a master of taking assets and parlaying them into more valuable ones.

With that said, why would he assume Clarence Weatherspoon's contract unless the Rockets sweetened the deal with at least a draft pick? I don't see how the C's and Rockets can work out a worthwhile trade at this point. If Payton does what's best for his career and reports to Boston, he'll show the league that he isn't 100% washed up and as the playoff picture becomes clear a worthwhile trade can be made. If he doesn't, he doesn't, and the C's don't get his full trade value in return (and if he retires... well that would kind of suck for Gary, because no team will sign him when he'd become available next year at age 37). But I don't see how he's coming to Houston, unless you want Raef LaFrentz.

The Celtics have $15 million in expiring contracts, and a glut of young talent. There's going to be at least one blockbuster trade before the trade deadline. But probably not with the Rockets. Unless, of course, you want Raef :D

    Oh man...

If Ainge was really clearing cap space, he would've kept Walker instead of trading him for LaFrentz and he would've kept Eric Williams instead of trading him for Ricky Davis. Now, instead of cap space, he's got two players that any other sane GM wouldn't touch with a 10-ft poll.

Also, the "glut of young talent" is nothing more than 3 mid-level draft picks who have yet to step on an NBA court - unless you're counting Jiri Welsch as "young talent".

It would be impossible for you to argue that the Celts will be any good this year. And it's just hopeful speculation to argue that they'll be any better the year after that. The only thing that's certain is that all this losing will just make Pierce fed up with Boston and that he'll soon be begging for a way out - I'm sure that Ainge will trade him for Shawn Bradley and five 2nd rounders.
