He opted out as many of you know

he only made 1.8 mil last year.

Im sure we could do better than that.

hes a good shooter, tough, strong, not the best defender, but pretty solid.

When he plays starters minutes, he plays well

    Here are Hoopshypes FA rankings.

I usually dont go with their rumors.

But this is pretty much just a good fact sheet

I don't think we need him, we have Juwan Howard and Steve Novak now... it's not like Songalia is an amazing player who will really have that big of an impact on our team.

He shows a good knack of hitting mid range jumpers but he doesn't shoot 3's and I think he'd be a good fit with Rockets. He is a decent rebounder but that can improve because he only averaged 21 minutes per game. I dont know anything about his defense.

I disagree with Swoosh, the way I see it, this team dosen't have a "real" PF yet. You also have to factor in the possibility of Juwan becoming injured this season, because it has and will happen again. Juwan may be able to drop 20-30 on a good night, but he still lacks the rebounding and defensive-toughness that is needed alongside Yao. And if Novak is gonna be shooting 3's all day long, than that isn't really improving our team's weakness inside the paint.

We don't have a "real" PF, but Songalia isn't a "Real PF" either, so why keep stock piling these guys? Songalia is undersized, he's a below-average rebounder, isn't a shot-blocker, but can shoot... sounds a lot like our other PF's.

With the MJ signing inevitable, we wont have the resources to get it done anyway unless theyre willing to do a S&T w/the TE.

i wanna get jared jeffries. He seems to be the new pf in the league of speed and with the new rules, we could use a quicker longer 4 than juwan howard.

I think we have enough PFs, we will need a backup center for Yao next season.

Score 20 and give up 30, score 30 and give up 40. That's why his +/- numbers are horrible. Yao and Juwan are terrible on the floor together. When you look at player pair numbers, Juwan and Yao's numbers are the worst. Yao has positive numbers with every other teammate besides Juwan. That is telling us a whole lot.

The only question I have in my mind now is Juwan's possible role if he stays here. I can't see him being a starter, unless JVG just wants to start every game in the hole. But, if JVG used Juwan as Yao's replacement when Yao needed a breather and TMac and James are in the game, then Juwan's high post game very well could fit a lot better. It would clear space for James to drive and he should be open from the top of the key for an open look. He might turn out okay in those type of situations.

But Juwan and Yao on the floor together is TERRIBLE. It is too much lack of footspeed and it kills us.

All the same, I'd still trade him for Darius Miles and a point guard. Yeah, Darius has been a bust and is high risk. But with the team we are putting together, we could take the risk of having a Dennis Rodman type personality on the team with players like Battier, McGrady, Yao, James, etc. to keep his head glued to his neck and not hanging out his .... And if they kept his head on straight, he has awesome athletic ability that could really launch us towards a championship the same way Rodman did the Pistons and Bulls playing that helter skelter style and just totally dominating the boards and defense. Miles has all those abilities plus he can put the ball on the floor and create a little bit.

I didn't want to create a new thread for this, but how about Jared Jeffries and Ronald Murray? I'm thinking we could get them for the large and small TE's. Jeffries would be a good defender with his height and quickness and Murray would be a good backup SG if not a starter.

Did you see Steve Novak at the Summer League interviews this week? His arms look like toothpicks. He may come in from time to time as a shooting specialist but he would get positively bullied if he ever had to guard the PF's in the Western Division.

Add Songaila. Trade Howard. Or keep Howard, but add Songaila. I'd be in tune with that.

Who do we need to go through to get to the finals?

    Dirk Nowitzki
    Nene
    Ike Diogu
    Elton Brand
    Pau Gasol
    Kevin Garnett
    Amare Stoudemire
    Zach Randolph
    Carlos Boozer
    And, Tim Duncan

    Dam! We need some muscle.

I'd love for Darius Songailia to become a Rocket, but only if Darius Washington makes the team - and especially if we then also trade for Darius Miles. That would have to be some sort of record.

I think Jared Jefferies would be good instead, he's tall and quick. Also shouldn't we get a back-up for T-mac, so he can keep his back staying healthy a little longer at least.

Songaila is soft-- I would rather play Howard/Battier/Novak. Even Hayes might be tougher down low.
