I'd be content if we made it to Round 2

Watching our offense in the first 3 games, I'd be content if we made it past the first round. Beyond getting past the first round, I have no expectations of the Rockets. Any further they get in the playoffs is just gravy to me.

Looking at the future rounds of the playoffs, we would have to play Dallas next (assuming Dallas wins), and if we get past Dallas, then we have to beat either Phoenix or SA.

LOL, we're better off playing the Eastern Conference winner than playing Dallas, Phoenix, or SA.

I wonder how many of you believe that this is a team that is capable of winning the championship. IMO, our offense in the first 3 games is not a championship caliber offense to me. Also, while our defense is good, SA's defense is even better than ours and as for Dallas, their defense is practically as good as ours:

    NBA Opponent Points per Game:

    1) San Antonio 90.09
    2) Detroit 91.84
    3) Houston 92.13
    4) Dallas 92.79

Unfortunately, SA's and Dallas's offense is looking better than ours so far in the playoffs.

Anyways, I really do hope the Rockets get their offense back to how it was during the regular season. If we get our offense back to the level of the regular season and maintain our level of defense as it is now, I would reconsider our chances for the championship. But based on how we played the first 3 games ... ... hopefully, our offensive slump ends there and going forward, this team plays the best offense that it has ever played before.

Another spot to save on the bandwagon? I'm not sure I can handle this. Maybe you should just plan to catch up with it and hang off the side.

I think we shold set our sights a little higher.

If we lose in an epic 7 game series in Round 2 to the eventual champions? Yes - looking back objectively I would call it a good season.

If we get rolled 4-0 in round 2 - then no I would not be content at all.

dude this jazz team is physical and we struggle against that. our superstars are NOT physical players.

if we face the mavs and the soft dirk, it'll be easy for yao to get his deeper positions. it'll be easier for tmac to go to his spots. are u kidding me?

u think we gonna shoot this bad v. the other teams?

the jazz are just a physical team. and we struggle v. that type of physicality.

Well the rockets' offense will pick up. I mean its been 3games in the playoffs let them get into a nice comfort zone and everything else will fall in place. You have to trust our coaching staff to guide this team properly.

Just watch for it. When the Rockets win this series and start beating the Mavs/Warriors, you'll see it.

what we essentially did from 04-05 is substitute offense for defense.

and we're about to see if it was worth it

    wesley, barry, and mike james

    for rafer, hayes, and battier.

none of the bottom look natural on offense, whereas the top 3 can create shots during times when t-mac and yao are playing bad.

You better be. We can give Dallas a run for their money though. They're not as bad a matchup as they were two years ago. I am still confident we can beat Dallas, but make no mistake about it: it would be an upset, and a pretty big one.

Looks like there's an even bigger upset in works in round 1 for Dallas as of right now. :)

I am not sure why people are having a hard time with that reality. There isn't a single team in the league that plays like the Jazz. We will always shoot like crap against them, and Yao/McGrady will keep struggling with their shots for the most part because they get tired quickly from all that physical play, it takes a toll on them.

That's cool with me. We would roll the Warriors in no more than 5 games. Dallas might not match up with them too well, but we can crush them with our methodical offense and very solid team/individual defense, something Dallas completely lacks.

It's the pace of GSW and Dallas' inability to counter/stop that tempo that's killing them; Houston wouldn't have that problem.

The NBA playoffs are all about matchups.

So we would have an historical collapse against a #8 seed that would embarass the entire city of Dallas for infamy, and Houston would get to the Conf finals...two birds with one stone. ;) :p

exactly. and unless the role players can make the open shots tmac and yao give them, they're gonna stay up and play physical.

    it's that simple.

No another team plays as nasty defence as the Jazz. Our players will definitely feel much more comfortable to shoot when we face other teams.

It didn't look too good tonight in a 109 pt 48.1% BEATING by a team who hasn't made the playoffs in over 12 years.
