It's sad that he's not getting MORE recognition. It's not his fault that his team sucks donkey balls. Put him as a leadoff hitter for the BoSox and see how many runs he'll score. Congrats Ichiro!

Congrats to Ichiro. He's a class act.

Not to take anything away from him, but Sisler did it in less games(5) and less at bats(~60). Still, Ichiro did it in an era where pitchers are much more gifted, IMO.

Mine too but lest we forget his team is at the bottom of the barrel. Unless he changes his name to Alex Rodriguez, I doubt we'll see another player winning the MVP that plays on a losing team.

150 something? I'm not sure the exact number.. but it took him a few more to get the amount of hits

That's like saying "well Dream's block record doesn't stand since they didn't keep blocks as a stat when Russell was playing or when Chamberlain started out"

Did you check the comparison though....it's pretty amazing between ichiro and sisler

    Ichiro - 258 H 691 AB .370 BA
    Sisler - 257 H 630 AB .407 BA

Got to give props to both of them....but amazing that Sisler did it with so many less at bats.....congradulations ICHIRO!!!!

I just dont' see how you can say he broke someones record when the guy didn't play as many games.

the record book should read.. most hits with whatever the less games was.. and most hits with 162 games.. having ichiro listed first with no asterik is just misleading

but when dreams record is brought up most people mention the others as well. .because they are belived to have had more blocks

it wasn't kept until 1969..the year that Russell retired. Granted, they DID play less games back in the day but who's to say the man didn't block at least 3 shots a game back then?

i think it's seriously nitpicking to say that Ichiro didn't break Sisler's record just because he played in an era where they play more games. that's like Frick asterick'ing Maris.

Sissler broke Ty Cobbs hit mark who broke Jesse Burketts Hit mark of 240 in 128 game seasons.

By your standard, Ty Cobb should have recieved an asterisk, Sissler should have had an asterisk, and Ichiro now should have an asterisk.

And you end up with 2 records with asterisks (Sissler beat out Cobb in 154 game season, Ichiro 162 game season)

with Jesse Burkett holding the all time record of 240 hits in a 128 game season.

    yeah~~~~
