This is for those who live in a cold snowy climates but how many of y'all have dealt with ice dams on your roof? I've got two huge ones on my roof and I noticed this week water and ice forming inside the window frame of a window just beneath it so I know that melt water is in the wall. The last few days have been up on the roof every day trying dealing with the dams. Shoveled all of the snow off the roof, had to do it twice since it snowed on early Friday. Have been dumping ice melt on the dams and wailing away on them on with hammer and hatchet. Am making progress but its a pain in the ass. To all of you living down in Houston or places without snow just be glad you don't have to deal with these. Snow might seem cool if you rarely see it and it melts in a day or two but it is a major pain otherwise.
We got six inches of snow on Christmas Day.... but it'll be 60 degrees by the end of the week. We get a couple of nice snows every winter. Sometimes we have the ice issues with melting snow and refreezing overnight. Apparently not this time, though!!! Feel your pain, RJ!
RJ, I'm from Indy, moved to Houston 25 years ago and realize how fortunate we are this time of year. Good luck!
