I know this is gona make people mad but its reality..... "How Much are we losing from having Olajuwon in our club earning 12Million dollars and how much is it slowing our rebuilding process" ------------------ I dont have one but ..............................maybe later
1 year and that is it. If he is 70-75% of the old Dream, I will be happy. We can only wait till the season gets under way to evaluate that. ------------------
Maybe a better question would be: "How much are we losing from having Maloney on our payroll earning $7 million and how much is it slowing our rebuilding process?" ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... next year, at least.
I think any true Rockets fan would admit that Dream deserves the right to play out his contract in H-town, no matter the drain on the cap. The only reason they're taking such a big hit this year was the contract structuring being backloaded. Dream's already earned this money (since he wasn't compensated to such an extent during the playoff years). However, your point is valid. Imagine the options if the Rockets had close to $15 mil. under the cap this offseason. ------------------
Before you guys go any further, go and have a look at http://rocketdavo.tripod.com, especially the bit titled "Hakeem Olajuwon Retirement FACTS" It will clear up some of the misconceptions you have about Hakeem and his contract. ------------------ Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
Driver8, He deserves to finish in Houston no matter how much he drains the cap? Even if he cannot physical contribute? What if his contract ran for another 3 years @ 18 million per year? Even then? There comes a time in every athlete's career when they become more of a liability than an asset and that time for Dream has come. People like to talk about loyalty...this isn't marriage, it's sports. Everybody has been loyal to everybody else, it's time for Hakeem to put the Rockets first and step aside. Some of you act like we tried to trade him the same year we won the titles. I know this is heresy on this board so I am prepared to get stoned (with rocks). Lastly, how come Dream's medicine doesn't make him sick anymore? When he rides the pine all year because he can't breath, I want to know what all you "loyalits" are gonna say. Different tune, guaranteed. I really hope I'm wrong. Try it like this. http://rocketdavo.tripod.com/ Good one Anti! ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!" [This message has been edited by RocketsPimp (edited July 13, 2000).]
He isn't draining the salary cap. Olajuwon's retirement would not give the Rockets any room under the current salary cap. It would have no effect so having him play this year can't do any harm and could do some good. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
What if Dream has a great year this year like in 1994 or 1995. Do we sign him to another year or two? ------------------ One minute ago you had 60 seconds longer to live then you have now. Did you enjoy the 60 seconds you just had?
Hey steve, someone already posted this but let me make it clearer..... Even if Hakeem was to retire this year, we wouldn't gain anything....His contract would still count......So Hakeem is probably thinking "instead of sitting my ass around next season, i might as well play 20 minutes a game to help the team as much as i can".... So be appreciative, and if he WANTS to stay longer, he's welcome.....He brought you TWO rings..... Oh yeah, about maloney, is his salary still counting against us? What good did him signing with chicago for one season do us?
Good info on page buy MAN does it load slowly. Davo, if you're here, why put the info in a huge JPEG? A GIF would be smaller and a table better still! As for Hakeem, ih he rode the bench all year, I would still consider him a part of the team and worth his money. We are, in effect, paying him arrears for past services. Anyone remember 1994 and 1995? ------------------ If you don't remember the ABA, you don't know basketball.
some of you have the right idea... Maloney and even though I love him , Cato's contract was a little hasty, I have said this before, hell that hurt us...... Hakeem, earns every penny, he needs more, **** Garnett and G. RObb, and even Derrick COleman get paid twice as much, man he has two rings...........enough said. HE was never a Rocket, we still would be looking for that first ring.................................. a ding a ding da long day......BOOOOOO! ------------------ GOT MILF!!! :O)
Even though Korn sucks, I have to agree with MILF. ------------------ I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine
ricealum, Sorry about the slow loading jpg - at the moment I just find it quicker to cut&paste a jpg than handle a table - I'm just not that handy with html and i have trouble formatting the table. If anyone has any tips I'd be glad to hear them. ------------------ Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
Hey Rocket freak you better duck because I'm about to stone your ass! Hakeem is the greatest player ever. You need to adjust your glasses, four eyes. ------------------
Hey Rocket Freak i just reread your post again, and I've come to the conclusion that you are a sell out! You've never loved Hakeem, you've always just used him for extra wins and a couple of rings. You are not even a Rockets fan, you just use people. You need to do some serious soul searching, bud. Oh, and you know what you can do with your liabilities and assets. Hakeem is a human being man not some financial haphazard. ------------------ Man I love Hakeem more than ever right now so yall better watch it. He's the best center in history. he'll school Jabbar, Chamberlin..... Anybody who wants to test the original dream shake at its prime better just go home while their sneakers are still on.
