I would pick Butler over Dunleavy if we had the chance

I have watched Butler throught his colledge career at Uconn and he didnt have anybody like Jason Williams to pass him the ball and a player like Carlos Boozer that can easily score down low as another option. Butler can do it all he isnt as good as a shooter as Dunleavy but he is better at driving and pull up jumpers in the arc. The one thing the rockets need by a three guard is thay they can score and play defense which Butler in my mind is better than Dunleavy. I think when Dunleavy comes into the NBA he is going to only huck up threes and be bust and couldn't help the rockets who have a good outside game with Francis, Cat, and Rice(if hes not injured). On the other hand Butler will creat and be a good 3 option for francis and be able to guard most of the forwards in the league.

I agree! Good analysis! If we pick Dunleavy over Butler, I don't know what I'll do.

Before anyone makes a "No, I disagree. Dunleavy is better than Butler" post, tell me this: Who would look more at home in pinstripes:

    [IMG] vs. [IMG]

    I would say it's a wash.

I don't post much, so when I do it means a lot:

Butler has a bigger upside than Dunleavy.

Really?? To who?? You?? Me?? Anyone else off this BBS?? Are you popeye the III?? Just messing with you dude...that quote just struck me odd.

Yes, I agree with you on that.

Why?? You're not joking are you?? BTW - Nine Inch Nails (who really is one person, Trent Reznor) has probably never filed for bankruptcy like Mr. Burrell has done.

I'm no scout, but, if Butler is better than Dunleavy, why are all the scouts and coaches so solidly in MD2's camp? I somehow don't believe they are ALL blowing smoke. Butler is indeed a three-guard -- a fancy name for a hybrid SG. Naw, he's a SG.

He reminds me more of Mitch Richmond physique-wise, but he's probably an inch taller at 6'6".

Yes,bodywise he does look like Corliss Williamson.
But I don't think he is a tweener like Williamson.
It remains to be seen if he does measure out to be 6'7"
If I had to choose between him and Dunleavy,I would take Butler because of his defense, physical strength, and athletic ability along with his solid all round game.

I keep on seeing people compare Corliss Williamson and Caron Butler, but there is a very big difference between the two, Williamson came out of college as an undersized PF with no game outside of 15 feet. Butler on the other hand is an undersized SF, who can play both inside and outside. I'm a big Arkansas fan, so I watched alot of Corliss is college, and the guy had no game outside of the paint, so please stop the Corliss and Caron comparisons, although they have similar body types, they play different postions and have completely different games.

If the Rockets get the 5th, 6th or 7th pick, I think they select in this order: Dunleavy, Wilcox, Butler, Gooden, Borchardt and lastly Woods.

Corliss wasn't a good shooter in college? No flame, I just don't know. I do remember, in th game against Duke, he looked very athletic checking Grant Hill.

I don't really like either one of them all that much.

I disagree. Why do you think Butler has more potential than Dunleavy? For starter's, Dunleavy has a lot more room to improve his bulk and his strength than Butler does. Plus, I just think Dunleavy has more basketball skills to build on. And potential isn't all about athleticism, some of its about smarts. I see Dunleavy being able to adjust better to the NBA game.

I'll agree that Butler has a potential NBA height disadvantage over Dunleavy, but that's about it. :D

Question: Why do so many on the BBS seem convinced Chris Wilcox is high on our list?

Sure, he's an ex-Terp, but come on. Isn't Wilcox a 4? Don't we have enough power forwards? Or is he capable of playing the 3?

See this thread for a good discussion on Wilcox.

I listed my reasons for interest in Wilcox about halfway down.
