He'll have one good game in every six...and well hear constant reports of his soreness here and here and here. Its really going to get annoying. He only slows us down. I meant that in the nicest way.

Rice and KT are the only good choices right now at the three. Nachbar has shown that he's really not ready yet and T-Mo is well...T-Mo.

Rice will be here as long as he is under contract. I have not been truly impressed with his preseason play. Hopefully he will come arround when the season starts.

I'm glad that we have KT. I would start KT and give Rice spot duty only.

Rocket Red:- A very wise observation!

Did any of you see what Rice has done in the pre-season games so far? Whenever his man left him for a double team, Rice drained a three or cruised in for a lay-up. This is pre-season, a time for tuning up! I, for one, am pleased with his play so far. Rice will take a lot of pressure off Ming and Griffin because other teams will not want to leave him unguarded.

I thought Rice has played well in preseason. He is starting to be effective posting up and it looks like his legs are solid when shooting the 3. Forgetting his contract the only detraction on the court would be = how long til he gets injured again.

I don't know. Rice looks more like mud out there. He's soooo slow and inept on defense. I don't know if an occasional 3-ball is gonna outweigh his other shortcomings.

You do know he scored the first 8 points of the game last night for the Rockets. Also in another game, I think the Spurs game, he hit big shots down the stretch in the 4th quarter. And he is playing very well in the preseason. Why would you want to get rid of him now that he is producing?

Who can predict injuries? Certainly the Knicks would never have traded for McDyess had they foreseen his injuries -- and his legs were known to be fragile. Who could foresee T-Mo's ankle sprain or SF being smacked in the mouth? Injuries happen. It's almost like ya'll are wishing for Rice to be hurt.

I was against Rice coming here and not optimistic about his contributions this year. But the guy has played well so far in preseason. When Rice hits a few shots there is not a coach in this league that's not going to react. If he's healthy his shot could make the difference in several games this year and even if he's just an X-factor for us, he may not end up being a bad one to have.

One would think the Rockets would wish they could get rid of Rice, too, for salary purposes. When Francis' extension kicks in next year, my bet is that Rice's salary pushes them over the luxury tax threshold.

I didn't...I only saw "Rice 2pts....Rice 4pts....etc" I have no channel 51, so I get no preseason games. :( But this place is very good at helping me get through the pain. Thanks for telling me how he's getting it done.

As for Rice, I don't really care. He seems pretty good, but if he's not, oh well. He's almost off the books anyways. But that's jmo.

Rice is the lone legitimate 3-point threat on the Rockets. Why get rid of him? He stretches defense and hits the 3, and that will be very important once Ming gets here and Steve and Cat start penetrating.

He doesn't have very much time left on his contract. Rice's leadership might prove to be valuable when the Rockets reach the playoffs. Boki already looks up to Rice. Veterans that can guide younger players can prove to be invaluble. I think the next two years is the perfect amount of time for Rice to be on this team. I just hope he remains injury free.

Rice has a contract this year and next fro over 9 mil per year. He is 35 years old with a history of devastating injuries. We have him in the twilight of his career.

I never wanted Rice either, so in this pre-season I had no expectations from him. I did not think he would contribute at all. He looks good to me this pre-season - I am pleasantly surprised. If he can stay injury free- he may be effective off the bench behind Kenny. I agree with Rocket Red. Good post....

RC Cola - you enlighted me some time back about how to percieve Rice- Who Cares? It's only 9 mil @ year and he is almost gone. I have not worried since....
