I wish Adelman could quit Wells. Morey needs to help put Rick in Rehab.

Look, I understand why Wells plays 20 mpg. He is the only decent wing with size other than usual starters Shane and TMac (unless you still have delusions about Snyder, that is). There is also some kind of hope that he can help the Rocket if he gets his act together-- there are flashes here and there of his talent. Maybe the history between these two puts Wells in the Adelman's circle of trust.

But he is hurting the team overall. The team needs to find another decent backup wing with some size. One who can defend and can make a shot consistently.

What good is size when he doesn't play any defense? Missing rotations and leaving guys open. He is a friggin veteran and it's been half of a season. Are we really trying to develop him? Don't we have to realize at some point that this is exactly what he is now?

If Adelman is going to keep playing Bonzi Wells, there is only one thing that can stop this plague upon the Rockets.

Morey needs to ship his ass out without telling Adelman first. He needs to go. Period. End of story. Ship him out for a guy with a clue, a guy who knows the plays and defensive rotations. Ship him out for nothing. Pay a team to take his ass off our hands. I don't care. Bring in a Mike Harris or something to fill the spot.

nah man, wells isn't that bad. he does play poorly in the last few games, but he is a good shooter in the 15 to 18 feet area, plus he can drive to the hoop.

    alston is shooting horrible percentage.

Psssssst....neither can Bonzi, and sometimes players just need a chance to do what they do in the big show....Mike Harris is that guy.

Also, I just want to point out that Kirk is shooting better than Bonzi in both FG% and 3pt FG%....

But, as you said, he can't shoot.....right?

Every time Bonzi shoots a Jumper I cringe. When it goes in, I feel like Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix.

Bonzi is a good cutter, and needs to play with Yao, but not T-Mac.

Bonzi's the worst shooter who shoots any volume on the team. He's a better finisher than only Chuck Hayes and Rafer Alston, he's a blackhole, a turnover waiting to happen, and he doesn't play defense at all. Sure he's a great rebounder, but I still don't get why he plays as much as he does. Worst of all, he plays some of his minutes at PF, where he's taking minutes that could go to Scola, Chuck, Landry, or even Novak. We know that 3 of those players are better than Bonzi right now, and I'd give Novak a shot to prove it at this point.

I said during the off-season that Bonzi wasn't an NBA-level player anymore, and then he had that great first couple of weeks and I recanted. He's done his best to prove me right since then.

I disagree that Bonzi is hurting the team. He is our only perimiter player that can use size to his advantage and punish smaller players in the post. He is our best and most consistent off ball cutter, and most rebounding guard on the team.

Basically, we need him, and the 20MPG are well deserved despite his defensive problems.

Don't worry, he's anyway on his last year of contract.

Funny some of the same people were bashing JVG for not playing Bonzi more last year :p Maybe some one else on the Rockets would do better with Bonzi's minutes, but with Bonzi being argueably the 3rd best player on the team, I don't know who we could possibly trade and hope to get a better player than Wells in return. Unless you are looking to trade away one of our rookies packaged with someone out of the rotation who has a bigger salary.

I am so sick of Bonzi shooting jumpers. I was shouting at him to stop shooting and cringing when he did after just 5 games. Now that half the season has gone by, you can imagine how I feel. I love what he does near the basket, and I like Bonzi. With that said, the dude has gotta realize he can't shoot for s*** when not near the basket, especially with 3pters. Someone needs to make him stop.

We're just keeping the Bonzi pacified with suitable playing time in the off chance that we see San Antonio in the playoffs. He's a liability everywhere else, but against them look out!

Bonzi is the answer. For some team needing one (Spurs killing) piece on it's march to June. Identify that team and divest the Rox of Mr Wells.

BTW - while we're at it, divest the Good Guys of a coach gone old and stale.

Bonzi Wells is averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds a game in 20 minutes of play, mostly off of the bench. I wouldn't call this "plaguing" the team.

If he is so bad at doing his job on the court, then he would be on the bench. Ala MJ and Snyder. I believe that as the season progresses and the game becomes more of grind, Well's big body and presence will prove its worth.

And about his shooting... I agree we don't want Bonzi shooting 3's all crazy, but I doubt that there are any opposing coaches in the league that would allow Wells to shoot his mid-range jumpshot uncontested.

We will never have a team that has flawless players at every position...

Until a better solution presents itself he needs to continue to get minutes. Mike Harris and Kirk Snyder aren't the answer and are/will both be out of the NBA very soon.

I think Wells should play but come off the bench. If he looks hot keep him in, play him his typical 20-26mpg. If he looks cold just move onto Head, Brooks, or Francis (ya I said it) and see if they are hot. Rudy would handle it that way.

Give Bonzi a break. He's nursing a shoulder injury now so he is not so effective in shooting. Last time anyone including was injured in the elbow or shoulder, their shots are out usually for a while. Do you not remember one game before injury where Bonzi put up 18 pts and got us a win? Just remember he is not fully healthy yet but we still need him to play.
