Well at least about the ten minutes I could take. What did he talk about for ten minutes, God? no he talked about liberals supporting abortion. Okay fair, he's a conservative christian evangelist, of course he's crusading against abortion. But what got me was part of his logic.

He said that children are the future purchasers of the goods of the current young people and when we kill them off we are ruining our economic future as well as killing the base of future social security tax payers. he wasn't kidding. WOW

    Please tell me you're joking.

It's amazing how religion and culture and politics intersect. The merging of modern american evangelic christianity with the republican party has resulted in this utterly bizarre hybrid theology where Jesus Christ supports fiscal conservatism.

It's ok for McCain to be bffs with him, though, because he's a fervent nationalist in addition to being a crazy bigot.

    Wait one second...

Using logic displayed in the past months, I can safely concur that John Hagee's remarks are actually a direct stream of John McCain's consciousness and thus, McCain has called the Catholic church the "Great w****," stated that Katrina was due to our acceptance of homosexuality, and that abortion is a key economic issue.

Egads! Hagee = McCain = Unfit to Lead!

Hey, just buy into it -- and don't forget to send some money Hagee's way. His Learjet is last year's model.

I went to 12 years of Catholic School -- one time my brother asked one of the nuns why the Pope didn't sell all the art and statues in the vatican and feed the poor with it.

The only answer he got was an evening in detention.

While I believe deeply in God and His Son and have enormous respect for His pastorate of whatever Christian faith, I am often appalled by those who profit using God's name.

I am not denying the clerics who toil in the trenches a comfortable living. However, I have little respect or patience for charlatans like Jerimiah Wright ($10M house and $10M line of credit), Hagee, Swiggert, the Bakers and all the other televangelists who have enriched themselves while giving token tidbits to the poor.

So, Bucket, please back off the smear tactics, i.e. equating candidates with preachers (Hagee is not McCain's pastor and thank goodness Wright is no longer Obama's) because this is dirt, not an issue.

dumbartonbass, I took your post to be sarcasm, but disabuse me if I am wrong.

I can't find the exact value of his exclusive golf course house in an all white subdivision, but I agree it is "over $1M" -- well over.

Come on dude, McCain was basically pissed when Hagee endorsed him. He was visibly upset. He couldn't just not accept his endorsement.

Either way, Hagee isn't a Christian anyway. He doesn't believe Jesus came to Earth to be the Messiah. Look it up on YouTube. The guy's so pro-Israel that he even refuses to acknowledge that the Jews denied Jesus as the Messiah.

Are you serious? Why just go after me now, when I'm clearly just trying to point out the double standard? I just want both candidates to be treated equally. If Wright's former relationship with Obama is an issue, then learly so is Hagee's ongoing connection with McCain. We've had about a gajillion threads on the Wright issue, but I couldn't find any where you complained about "equating candidates with their pastors".

I've shown that I want as much as anyone on this board trying to make the debate in here about real issues. Look at the threads that I've made. As far as I can recall, they're all about economics. I also made one that was meant to be sort of a catch-all for anyone that wanted to discuss various policy positions of the candidates (i.e., not Wright, Hagee, "bitterness", or the Keating 5). It got 0 replies.

I absolutely hate that this is what our discourse has come to. But if Kirilenko gets rewarded for the flop on one end, Battier sure as hell better on the other.

Not true. McCain went after and sought Hagee's endorsement even after Hagee's Katrina comments.

The Jews didn't deny Jesus as Messiah. Many Jews did, but remember Jesus and many of his followers were Jews as well.

There's no way McCain would have sought Hagee's endorsement. It's political suicide.

I know that all Jews didn't deny Him, I should have stated it a little clearer.

Was that the basis of your original post? That you didn't think McCain would have accepted Hagee's endorsement? That's not how you phrased it.
