I was wrong about Willis, he has been a great fit for this young team

Ok, so everyone knows I balked about the trade for Willis.

I thought the Rockets were getting the 96-97 version of Kevin, not the 97-98 version.

I figured it would be the former because Willis is older, but fortunatley he is in such good shape.

I think Big Kev is a better fit on this team than Olajuwon. Do you notice how he cuts to the basket when Rocket guards are penetrating, and then he gets easy layups. What a valuable asset. Dream would never cut to the basket. Olajuwon would just camp out near the free throw line waiting for a jump shot.

Currently, Willis is a better finisher than dream. He dunks quicker than Dream.

And as for Walt Williams; there are times when he really sucks, where all he does is make mistakes, but dude can make clutch shots every so often. In that Phoenix game, Walt played brilliant ly. He did everything, including penetration. That stunned me. I get concerned when he tries to do that because it looks like his legs are always going to collapse, like he is going to trip and fall on his face. But he did well.

I was thinking the exact same things. I was just about to start a Willis thread myself. This guy is just what the Rockets needed. If I had my choice, I would still want Hakeem on this team, for sentimental reasons. However, Willis is a much better fit this season. Willis has made me perfectly confident that the Rockets will get to the playoffs as a high 4-6 seed!

JB , you were doing fine until you mentioned Williams. Willis is good and should have played more minutes, but our 3 spot is still sucking

Willis has been critical! Coming off the bench, he is still one of the top rebounders in the league so far this season. Solid defense, clutch pts. I love the guy. I just finished watching the Denver game. At times it appeared that we were playing three (Francis, Mobley, and Willis) against five. Are any of you as sick as I am of watching Norris (The Little Dribbler) run around the court without a clue! How much are we paying him? TOO MUCH! Rice and Williams can't hit the side of a red barn, and, not surprisingly, Cato has disappeared. Thomas played hard and made a contribution; however, when we start playing the upper echelon teams, we are in for some long nights. I say, give Morris and Griffin a chance; they may be our only hope of the playoffs. Francis, Mobley, and Willis can't continue to play by themselves against the better teams and win. Stuggling to beat Denver is not a good sign

Simple as this, without Willis we would probably be 1-4 or 0-5. He makes a huge difference in the close games. Plus, who thought he be this much of a rebounding monster with limited minutes?

I don't get where you say that Cato has disappeared from? The only time he disappeared is when Kenny was playing center.

Rice and Williams both hit some buckets tonight, even though Williams doesn't seem to have any handles anymore. Rice's shot is starting to gradually come back...Cato played well, considering that Willis played the majority of the minutes at the five. Both Cato and Willis are doing a good job at moving without the ball this year to get easy feeds from the guards

Rice had 9pts, but he should have thrashed wahad. he looks sloooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww for some reason. walt isn't any better. Cato scored when he was on the court , but for some reason, rudy played a lot of bull$iit ball tonight. You know , it wouldn't be bad if it makes us quicker, but playing walt and rice instead of Cato/willis and Thomas actually makes us slower. If you want to go small, how about Griffin and Morris at the 4 and 5.

No way that Rudy would put the two rooks in at the same time, unless we're up by 30 in the 4th...

I didn't see the first part of the game, and in regard to Rice and William's shooting, I was referring to the five games played this season. In my view, both have been very unimpressive. Cato's first game was very encouraging, but he seems to have declined each game thereafter. I think Francis, Mobley (who has been nothing short of incredible) and Willis are carrying the load, and can't continue to do so and win, especially against the better teams. I still say Griffin and Morris can do as well as Rice and Williams have done thus far.

    My thoughtful analysis:

Kevin Willis is The Man. Without him we are maybe 2-3 at best. These have been close games, and everyone has to admit that he's pulled us out of the s*t for most of them. This guy is going to average a double-double this year. Long term? He's not a long term answer to our C/PF problems. Short term? He's just what the doctor ordered.

I am no longer worried about our frontcourt getting pansied and painted in the West. THAT is medicine in and of itself...

I am happy with this team. :D
