My horn (2000 mitsubishi Montero) just started blaring. At first I did not imagine it was my ride doing it but then I went downstairs and sure enough (just got it about 3 and a half weeks ago). The horn was blaring, like an army base alarm or something. Tried hitting the wheel lightly, starting the car up and finally just disconnected my battery. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

i had that problem with a 2001 Altima. that ****er would go off unexpectantly on occasion and it always seemed like in the middle of the night. i had to turn the car on to make it stop, but a few times as soon as i shut down the car, the horn would blow again. till this day i still dont' know what caused it to go off or stop. it just....did. it doesn't do it anymore though...only b/c it's been totalled.

Not only have I seen it before, but I had a Mistubishi that did the same thing (an old Mirage). And, it happened while I was driving the darn thing. I had to pull over and rip the front of the steering column off to disconnect the horn. Turns out there was a short in the horn mechanism. Factory part, but not too expensive or hard to fix.
