i dont understand. you love that people are dying? you love that mothers and fathers with their sons in the military are losing their only sons? their sons and sometimes daughters are dying and theyre not even close to home.

you can be for this war... but there is nothing to love about war.

and i just wanted to clear this up...i am in NO way pro saddam. saddam is a moronic prick, but i definatley do not belive young people that are only a few years older then me should be out there, dying for this. how do people not understand...everyone who dies has a life and a family and friends. to most people over here, every person that dies just becomes a number, a statistic. it is sad. i'm from yugoslavia (now sebia & montenegro) so i know what it was like being in a war. when i was a kid, i lost half of my dads side of the family to war. my dad lost his house, my grandparents did too. for what? dumb, dumb reasons. war is a terrible, terrible thing and there's people around here that 'love it'.

    its just not right.

Sad to hear that jello, but I'm glad that your a member here. It's always good to hear from people with real experience like treeman who's an actual soldier and someone like you who grew up in a war. It's humbling and it reminds me that all I know is what I read and what I see on tv. That's the kind of stuff that keeps me from becoming a prick who thinks he knows everything and then gets into a long ridiculous back and forth post war with a similar prick who has a different opinion without ever conceding that the other person could even be remotely right or that I could be wrong.

Anyways, I hope things are going well in Serbia & Montenegro and that the young generation that you are a part of lays the foundation for a great future.

Come on, he was responding to the article posted in this particular thread, which has to do with how happy some Iraqis will be when Saddam is gone. What's not to love about people being freed from a ruthless dictator?

Apparently because they are liberated without the permission of the UN, without exhausting all other possible means, without the cooperation of the wise Frenchmen, and because of such violence, the horror, the horror.

Haven't heard anyone blurt out "war is never the answer" for a while.

If Saddam was just a moronic prick then all this would not be neccessary. But Saddam is a sadistic murderer at a genocidal level that deprives his people of food and wealth that he keeps for himself. Vengeance is finally coming for Saddam and his sons for all of the atrocities that they have commited.

    Sorry about your loses.

Where did I say that I loved the war, dumbass? I love the fact that some human shields are seeing the light and realize that the war we are fighting is a just war.

You piece of crap. I was in the military.

jello77 doesn't appear to care about military service. Another patriot.

He apparently doesn't care about the liberation of 24 million people, either. He doesn't seem to understand that that is the part that we "love".

have you ever actually fought in a war? do you know what war looks like from a civilian point of view? i know you're in the army, but my point is i dont think it is a just cause going into iraq and i dont think people like you should be going and dying over there. i dont know. maybe i'm wrong, but from my experiances, war has to be the most terrible thing i have ever seen, and in no way do i want others knowing that feeling. i also really dont see how people like you and gr8-1 can get so pissed off when people dont agree with your opinions.

i watched cnn and it was upsetting, they're talking about this war like it's a video game. like i said, everyone who is a causualty becomes a statistic, people are like 'aww, too bad', and they change the channel to the ncaa basketball tournament. its not right. i hate saddamn, he's terrible, but this is not the right solution. and also we burned so many bridges by coming here that it's going to be tough to be able to travel to see my family overseas.

i love this country, i am hoping for every single one of our soldiers to come back alive, i am in no way pro-saddam. yet i say i dont want to go to war, and i am called a dumbass. great reasoning.

He was offended because in your defense of your postition you intimated that gr8 was supportive of all that goes along with a war. It is a popular ploy by the ant-war crowd. Nobody like the dying. Nobody likes the orphans that are left. It's stupid for people like you to casually suggest otherwise. Even in your sarcasm your point is transparent.

No, I said that because you personally assumed that I like war and that I like people dying or whatever. Believe me, minimal casualties is certainlyh important to me. However, our leader has decided that this is a war that must be fought. What I hope for is a short war with minimal casualties, but also success. I don't want to do this again in ten years or so. We're in this now, may as well finish it.

And, judging by the current climate, someone will always have a conflict with the US it seems.

If you fail to see the justice in liberating 24 million people from a tyranny so brutal it makes Milosevic look like a choir boy, if you fail to see the justice in removing WMD from a dictatorship that is similar to Al Capone with a huge army, if you fail to see the justice in putting an end to a regime that is responsible for the deaths of over 1.2 million people, then I would have to say that you have a severely fu*ked up sense of justice.

We are all volunteers, by the way.

And if you think that there is another way, then you *are* a dumbass.

    BTW, sinohero:

I move that you rename this thread "I was a naive fool to believe that this war is unjust and that there was another way to solve this problem". Or just "I was a dumbass".
