I have Commiecast, and ever since my neighbor got connected to my hub, my shiet is slow, talking like .5 up .2 down from 3-5 down, 1-2 up, which I want faster anyway.

Called them said they'd run a new cable, laughable. Anyway Fios ain't available where I live, I'm thinking about a DSl line, although dedicated, from the looks of it I won't get much speed.

Any suggestions? I wouldn't be hard pressed to pay 100-300 a month for internet since I really don't watch tv.

T1 line? A local dsl company with speeds approaching double digits both ways? I live in Southeast Houston btw.
Are T1's a hassle? I know they're ordinarily not for home unless you have a business, but I really want no lag on games, and to download anything at a crazy rate.

Got U-Verse available? I think you can get service up to 24mbps for $65/mo.

I have their 12mbps service and the speed is reliable.

You actually have a super duper fast internet connection. It's the cannaboids that make it seem like slow motion.

T1s aren't about speed, they're about dedicated connection. It's a guarantee of 1.544 megabits per second. However, I see them go down all the time, so the guaranteed uptime is bulsh.

The new line is no joke. If you can get a brand new line to the tap on the main wire, you will see the difference. If you can be there to harass the installer into splitting someone else's line and giving you a straight connection, it will do wonders for your speed.

If that's not enough, you could go the hacked cable modem route. I won't get into it here. Google.

If a single hacked cable modem isn't enough, you can have multiple cable modems into one old pc with Linux, and run a program which combines your connections into an insane connection. Very technical, and again, Google.

Jesus Jcee let me help you out a bit.. Get this if your on Comcast..

Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem

You probably have one of the 1st or 2nd generation modems... MODEMS make a big difference in Comcast world... Or take your old on in for a new one.. I can't get rid of Comcast because it's the fastest Internet around me.. Sugarland/Stafford.. 16MB download / 3-4 up... Once dual channel bonding starts here I should see 30-50 MB download with / 5 up... Couple of my buddies who live in the Heights and Midtown are getting those crazy speeds with Comcast but it's because Channel bonding is turned on for them.
