O.K. i say the Heat already have the title in theyre hands so i wana know from there lineup whats there weak point? 1.Tim Hardaway 2.Eddie Jones 3.Anthony Mason 4.Brian Grant 5.Alonzo Mourning Bench Anthony Carter Dan Majerle Eddie House Chris Bowen Laphons Ellis P.S. implyin that all the Starters Play without injury!! ------------------ "And Raul missess the Penalty in the 89th minute of the Euro2000 and Spain is sadend again" by Spanish Fan
They dont have laphonso ellis. And its Bruce Bowen not Chris. A player that is going to be a big help off the bench is Ricky Davis, they are gonna need a guy that gives a spark off the bench. Heat right now are the number in the east or maybe even in the nba. ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. Mason at the 3? He can't guard his shadow, much less any 3 in the NBA. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
I CANT wait till the KNICKS vs. HEAT this year Riley vs Van Gundy Larry Vs mason Eddie vs SPREE The new triple A arena vs. Madison square Garden ------------------ "And Raul missess the Penalty in the 89th minute of the Euro2000 and Spain is sadend again" by Spanish Fan
Miami is going to be very interesting to watch this year. Chemistry as always is important, but with the talent on that squad, if they don't make any serious noise this season, Riles will have some serious questions to answer. And as much as Brian Grant helps them, losing Gatling and Weatherspoon hurts their depth at the 4 and 5 badly. Of course, Bowen and Davis can play the 3 off the bench, and Mason can move up to the 4. But who's Mourning's back-up? Grant, Mourning, and Hardaway are known for their injuries, and while the Heat may have the best starting five in the league, their depth a'int all that great. In the East, I guess Grant can play some 5. On paper, they do not look very deep. But then again, look at the Faker$ second unit this past season - Fisher, Shaw, Fox, Horry, Sally. Zo and Jones better plan on being in shape b/c their gonna play alot of minutes. Maybe the East will be interesting for a change. ------------------ GATER
Timmy has not been healthy for quiet some time now. So it will be interesting to see how many min, and games he can give them. Bob who told u Mason can play no defense. As far as I remember Mason is suppose to be a pretty good defender. Was Mason ever with the Knicks the same time as Riley? I'm also wondering if Timmy goes down, would Riley use Mason as a point forward. That way Davis and Eddie would be free to roam around and shoot jumpers all day long. ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Posting in stupid threads is not FUN! 2. Haven't been a Rockets fan for too long, huh ROckets03? Mase was on the Knicks in 94 when we played them in the Finals. And you're right - he was (is) a pretty good defender. He defended Dream better than anyone else they had that series (yes better than Ewing). But I thought he and Riley had a falling out. Maybe they patched that up? ------------------

Anthony Mason is an incredible defender. He can guard any position on the court from 2-5. He's rugged, very tough, and surprisingly quick for such a big hass. As someone stated, he did the best job on Olajuwon during the '94 championship run. He also guarded Michael Jordan when John Starks needed a breather, or while with the Hornets. I think Miami is the ideal situation for Mason. Playing for a veteran contending team will give him focus. As for the Heat lineup, chemistry offensively will be an issue, but I see them running away with the East without much of a challenge. Defensively, that may be the best starting unit this decade. They lose PJ Brown, but gain Brian Grant, who is just as intense but a year or two younger. Zo and Eddie Jones will again be their all-defensive selves. Mason just makes them rougher. Losing frontcourt depth in 'Spoon, Thorpe, and Gatling will hurt, but I always say that quality is better than quantity, and Mason/Grant will have an incredible effect. Most importantly, with Jones and to a lesser degree, Davis, the Heat have perimeter firepower to push them past the Knicks. I can see them giving the Lakers/Spurs some serious hell in the Finals with that brutal frontline. ------------------ "At least I screw sheeps..." - Corey Benjamin of the Clutch BBS.
That starting five is great...but there bench is thin (make that REALLY thin!) If they can get a few veterans who just want a chance at a ring, maybe there bench can be impoved. Under a Riley system....that starting 5 will be burnt out something fierce come finals time. ------------------
thacabbage, Can you think of some trade scenario(s) for the Knicks that can help counter some of the recent Heat offseason moves? They have some players that aren't very marketable in trades which hampers change. I can't think of any viable options for NY to do, but it is hard to imagine them staying with the same squad of 1999-2000. Mango ------------------ 1. Put new topics in the proper forum 2. All I can tell you is that I don't think trading Ewing for Baker gets them anywhere. Making that trade is just dealing for the sake of dealing. They don't need to rebuild, but retool. By all means, do not trade Sprewell or Houston, as they are both in the primes of their respective careers (30), and have developed great chemistry. I don't like what they are trying to do right now, which is trying to deal Ewing for whatever long-term overpriced garbage that is being offered (Howard, Baker). That just gets them into a deeper hole in the long run. They need to deal the likes of Camby, Gramamma, Childs etc. off, and wait for Ewing's cap money. Then they can build a new team around Sprewell and Houston. ------------------ "At least I screw sheeps..." - Corey Benjamin of the Clutch BBS.
Cab That's the problem...Johnson and Childs are almost untradeable. Actually, LJ IS untradeable. His contract goes through until 2007 if I read correctly. The ONLY way to trade that contract would be to package it with a young stud like an Odom or a Francis...and the Knicks haven't got anyone remotely like that I actually really like LJ...but theres no GM out there who is stupid enough to take on such a contract with a guy whose body is already permanently damaged... The Knicks are stuck unfortunatley in that 'no mans land' of not being good enough to win it...and not be crap enough to rebuild and not having anything to trade so as to move either way... ------------------
What about the Miami nightlife? I see Mason getting into a lot of trouble in Miami. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know. [This message has been edited by BobFinn* (edited August 20, 2000).]
Especially now with Isaiah Rider likely to join the team. Rider and Mason on the same team doesn't mix. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net Sign Mo Taylor. Bench Kenny Thomas.
