I mean . . .we lost with Steve TRYING TO GOTO YAO!!! Isn't that what u guys said. . . .. don't mind losing as long as it goes through yao . . . Steve TRIED to go through YAO!!! I hate you kneeJERKS You pessimistic give up every other day selling out the rockets so called fans Ya'll are totally disgusting and distasteful I don't like how the rockets are playing now but you guys. . . . YOU SUCK!!! Rocket River Rockets fan 4 Life
Oh yes, just because someone makes a terrible pass it dispels the obvious that we should go through Yao. By the way, here's a question for you. Who is the best passer on this team?
AMEN ROCKET RIVER! Some ppl on this board whine all the f'ing time (and are others who really meant they would be happy losing as long as it goes through yao...grrr) unless the team is absolutely perfect. And Riet... I don't think he was dissing yao, or criticizing going through Yao.. undoubtedly Ming is the best passer. Francis would have to be second though.
Perhaps if Steve had tried as hard in the first 3 quarters to get Yao Ming involved with the offense as they did in the 4th quarter we would have been protecting a 14 point lead instead of trying to pull out of a 14 point deficit. One problem I have with Steve is that when he or Cat starts out slow he will often continue to get them more and more shots in an attempt to jump start their games. When Yao Ming misses his first shot or gets a ball poked out of his hands it appears that Steve becomes very apprehensive about involving Yao Ming in the offense after that. Yao Ming is a big time offensive weapon, not just shooting but passing. Steve needs to be more diligent in trying to get Yao Ming involved in the offense because when he starts picking the opponents defense apart with his passing or lighting them up with hook shots, fade aways and drop steps the opponents defense start concentrating on Yao Ming leaving Steve, Cat and everyone else for a slew of easy shots. The offense always runs smoother when Yao Ming is playing well so why not make more of an attempt to get his game going, even on nights when he starts out slow. BTW, Steve made the right decision to pass the ball to Yao Ming streaking to the basket at the end of the game. Unfortunately while he made the perfect decision for the situation he did not execute properly and under through Yao Ming so bad that it was picked off well before Yao Ming even had a chance for the ball.
mom: Son you need to chew your food more, use your teeth. Son: But Mom, I bite my tongue using it. Mom, you suck.
rocket river, you have to understand that it's this "pessimistic give up every other day selling out the rockets" attitude that makes some people fans too, as much as you might think otherwise. of course we want the rox to win. when the team sucks, we start to PMS and vent out our frustration here. but know that some of these people would practically give our right arms to the team if it would help them play better. now these types of people are fans, even if they whine and piss and moan. and yeah i agree, those who completely give up and quit on the rox do suck as far as steve trying to get the ball to yao at the end...it's a gutsy call, but i'll give him props for at least trying what most of us has have been proposing all along. hey, he said he thought yao was open. but he shouldn't be criticized just for that one play. hell, the rox shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place.
The Rox shouldn't need the last play to win the game, period. If the ROX's play the level they suppose to and Rudy had a game plan, we should have won the game before half-time. I don't think the fans upset about losing a game. They are disgusted because the ROX has no idea what they are doing other than the fans. ROX on paper is miles better than the CAV, but the ROX lack of basketball court thinking and coaching. Hack even the last play was executed and we won by 1 point. I will still be upset because the ROX did not play well. It is not solely about winning and losing, it is about what the ROX should perform.
One observation, Steve saw that pass late. He had a chance to get Yao maybe a few split seconds before he actually attempted the pass. Maybe it was indecision, maybe he was surveying all the options, or the worst scenario - he just didn't see him. I say worst because IMHO, a good point guard would have visualized that play setting up in his head well before it ever happened. In any case, as a previous poster noted, Steve spent much of the first 47minutes of the game ignoring Yao or making terrible passes when he did see him. I remember one inlet pass he made to Yao on the block - after the double team had already come and was surrounding Yao! Of course, this lead to an immediate turnover. But then again, that is how you become the league leader in that category. You go on loving this team. I respect the game too much to be able to enjoy this bullshht brand of basketball.
So you combat or respond to the negative posts with one of your own? That is productive. I have learned while traveling around the country is that the fans that are pessimistic are still fans. Some of the best fans. Atleast they care enough to yell and call people bums. I mean, you guys want passionate fans who go to games and all that, but when fans voice thier opinions on a team that is under performing, you get mad. You can't have it both ways. The Philly fan calls everyone bums, trash, and losers if the team makes one mistake. But they are supposedly the best fans in the country. So I see no problem anymore with people writing and calling to call Franchise selfish, Mobley a bum, and EG a waste of potential. Atleast they care enough to comment. Remember last season with the Astros? No one called sports radio to complain or praise. People didn't care at all. Atleast people are caring about the Rockets one way or another. For the most part, the fans have been smart. Asking for Cato/Yao in the game at the same time. When that did happen, it was a good move. Saying Steve needs to be a 2. When Moochie is at the 1 with Steve at the 2, the offense is alot more effiecient. So don't be so quick to condemn the fans when they are negative towards the Rox. But getting back to this team, we are so inconsistent that I am not sure if we will make the playoffs at all. The Lakers are getting in and it might be our 8th spot that they take. Unless we play better on the road, Steve will be back in New York on lottery day.
