I have always had mixed feeling on whether Yao would be a success. I think the only thing that can hold him back is lack of aggressiveness. I think the same thing that happened to Pau will happen to Yao. I know the player Pau admired most coming into the league was KG and KG abused him the first game they met. However, after that game Pau started turning it up and became much more agressive and you could start seeing he was going to be a great NBA player. I think this will happen to Yao. He will get abused early and then start to understand what it takes to to succeed in the NBA. Unfortunately(fortunately for Rocket fans), the Rockets have more talent then the Grizzlies had last season and Yao will not be asked to be the primary focus on offense. His numbers won't jump out at you but by the 2nd half he will probably be the Rockets 2nd best player.
I actually agree with for the most part. However the only player in this league that will abuse Ming is Shaq and he abuses everybody. I do think that if he holds his own, meaning scoring over 10 points, pulling down some boards, and causing Shaq to miss some shots, he will grow in confidence and terrorize the rest of the league. This year is getting so exciting. I hearby make my final prediction for the season. The Rockets will win over 50 games and will get the second round of the playoffs as long as they don't have to play the Lakers in the first round.
That fella sure is swell. He's a real sharpie, by golly. The main question I have is: "Where you been pinchin' the hooch? Has some blind tiger been jerkin' suds on the side?" Sorry, couldn't resist. Using the term "moxie" just sounds so 30's! "That tamata really has moxie!"
A good take from a (moderately) impartial observer. And I agree that Yao has "moxie". off-topc - Isn't "moxie" a yiddish word that has found it's way into American slang? I recall older issues of Mad Magazine using it very frequently.
