So, I was leaving my girlfriend's house tonight, and we've gotten like 4 inches of snow in the past like hour or so. So, I sit down in my car, start it, and immediately get some sort of creepy feeling like someone was watching me. I sat for a second, then got out to brush the snow off my car. Didn't see anybody. After my car is brushed off, I sat back down in it, and get ready to drive. All of a sudden I notice two kids (I'd put them between 18 and 20) standing in the middle of the road about 10 feet in front of me. One of them starts to walk towards me. I lock my doors as he walks up. He stops about a foot from my door with this weird look in his eyes. It creeped me right the **** out. Definitely not the look of someone in need of help. I panicked, and threw the car in drive. I drove right passed the other guy standing in the middle of the road. There were about 3 inches of snow in the road, and as I drove, I slid and almost hit a parked car. I even blew right through a stop sign about half a block from these kids. I decided to call the cops and report suspicious activities. I told the cop what happened, gave a description, and told him that they were probably just looking for some sort of help. But I also told him I just had an uneasy feeling about the whole thing. He said they'd send a car to that area and check it out, and took down my name and number. I also called my girlfriend and told her, and told her that they were right in front of her house and for her to lock all her doors. I live in a small town of about 35,000 people. The neighborhood I was in is in a good area of town, but in my town, anywhere is a five-minute drive to a bad part of town. My rational side says these kids were probably looking for help, but my gut says otherwise. Wow. Talk about fight or flight....
I would have done the same thing because I feel if someone needed help, they would be motioning it from the moment you notice them, and not wait until they just got right next to you. Also, you said he just stood there which is really weird, I think your feeling was right that something was going to go down. Good nothing happened, make sure to call up on your gurl.
I just called her. She said her doors are locked, but she didn't want to look outside her windows, lol.
Alright that's good. One time when I was about 10, my friends and I were at my family friends house with no parents home or anything, because they were out at another family friends party. They lived in a really nice area of Houston (Memorial) and we find some random dude walking around their backyard around 8 pm. (They have no fence btw which is kinda weird, and there was still some light which is how we saw him, not to mention their house was surrounded with big 20 foot windows.) Once we saw that, we all had something in our hands to protect ourselves lol. That was from a bat, to a tennis racket, to a knife.
Lol. They were Puerto Rican, I think. I have to say, if they were white kids, I would have reacted the same way. Even if they were Amish, I still would have probably reacted the same way...
PUERTO RICANS! ...i dunno if it's just me, but I find it funny how you narrowed it so specifically in your mind. the power of stereotypes

The reason being, I live in upstate New York. The town I live in is not very ethnically diverse. 95% of the population is either Italian, Polish, Swedish, African American, or Puerto Rican.
That sounds very diverse to me! I grew up in a town that was 98% white. Now that's a non-diverse town.
if they were puerto rican, then you reacted correctly and they were most likely going to car jack you. from your description, it sounds like they were zombies though, and they most likely wanted to eat your flesh.
A situation such as this is no time to ponder life's anthropological sensitivities. All you can do is assess the situation, the principles, and then play the probabilities. Sounds like you did the right thing to me. The_Conquistador would have unsheathed his sword, no doubt.
Damn, so you just left your girl in her house like that with 2 strange dudes right outside? Have you un-tucked your balls yet? Just kidding.
