I think I'm ready to deal Battier

I think I'm ready to deal Battier

For a long time now, I've been following Brandon Rush. I really felt like he would be the perfect offensive/defensive complement to McGrady/Shane as the third swingman getting 25-30 minutes per night. I have been hoping we could get him even before KU won the championship, watching the mock drafts even when he was in the 2nd round and then when he was at the bottom of the first round.

Now it has become obvious to all the other teams after his workouts just how good he is. Everybody's talking about the fact that he can shoot it, penetrate, handle, and play D. So I have become even more convinced.

I think we should offer Battier up along with #25 for Portland's #13 plus Martell and Jack. I like Martell better than Outlaw. Then if Portland insists on Outlaw instead of Martell, then ask them for their first second round pick and do the deal. AS LONG AS RUSH IS ON THE BOARD AND WE CAN DRAFT HIM.

This leaves us with a swingman combo of McGrady/Rush/Outlaw to handle the minutes at the 2/3. If Rush can play D as well as the scouts are saying, then I think that would be a major upgrade for us.

I am convinced now that Rush will really help us.

I don't think it matters if Rush is still there or not (though I still think he should be), if you can swing that deal, with either Outlaw or Martell.

The only hold-back is if Battier could be the key piece to stealing away a better player somehow.

I'm neither here nor there on Rush - haven't seen enough of him and barely paid attention to his defence.

I'd be happy with either Webster OR Outlaw along with Battier!

I've been ready to deal Battier and move T-Mac to the 3, but unless we're gonna package something together to get a 2 that can be our 3rd star, shooter and scorer, like Ray Allen or something like that, I dont think its worth it. I'd rather keep Battier, stay at 25 and take CDR.

I hope to see Battier again in Rockets uniform next season.

Battier will stay here unless we trade T-Mac or Yao.

    I was actually thinking about the same thing;
given how nonsensical your thoughts on baseball are, I think I have cause for concern.

I think we would send Brooks their way as well.

A lot of the deals people have proposed involving Battier not only downgrade the defense, but they downgrade the shooting as well. With Webster, you're getting a guy who can be extremely effective as a spot up shooter in addition to a guy who has serious potential as an athletic scorer. You've improved the depth, size, athleticism, and youth at the wing without compensating any shooting. Jack would be a bonus; I don't know that he's an upgrade to Rafer, but at a minimum, he makes Bobby Jackson fully expendable for a talent upgrade since he is at least an above average backup.

I don't know that it's lock for Portland, but it makes a ton of sense for them to get a guy like Battier around Aldridge, Oden, and Roy. Clearing out Webster and the pick makes a bit more space for Rudy Fernandez, as well.

Trading Battier is a bitter pill to swallow. This is especially risky, since Webster isn't likely to be the fully developed player for another couple years, if he ever gets there.

Battier plus Webster would be nice. Webster would be a good athletic shooter with size, who can also put the ball on the floor to some extent.
I have said it before I don't see Portland giving their 13th pick for Battier.

Battier/#25 for Outlaw/Jack/#13? Would Portland really go for this?

Forget Webster too. I don't know how it's possible to prefer Webster over Outlaw. That's like saying you'd rather have Jason Kapono than Danny Granger.

i dont know, that would be hard. juwt for tha simple fact that i finally bought into(well accepted) tha gay/battier and niether CDR or Rush is better than Gay coming into tha draft.

Webster + Jack + #13 for Battier + #25 means you don't need Rush. I'd go for a project 4/5 like Marreese Speights or JaVale McGee or even a project 3/4 like Donte Greene.

Why do you think portland wants to get rid of Jack+Mattel with a 13th pick for Battier so badly?

Battier + #25 + draft rights to Lishouk for Outlaw + #13 + Rodriguez + McRoberts + draft rights to Joel Freeland

    McRoberts is non-guaranteed, waive him.
Send Rodriguez to a team with a TE and 2nd round pick.
Try out Freeland in Summer League before committing to Deke.

Portland fans wouldn't like the trade but I think McMillan would. He gets his vet and loses that "third option", McMillan's words, PG that people fret over him for not playing.

I would do that deal Outlaw+Jack+13th, only if I had another deal already in place to deal that pick 13th+Jackson+Head for a legit 3rd scorer ie...Miller Artest Meggette. Not until then.

When Morey said looking for a 3rd scoring option, he's ready to deal Shane.
