I haven't slept well in over a week. I never have night mares, but last night I had horrible nightmares. Not ones that were scary in a monster sense, but ones where I would be in situations where I had to be mean and hurt people and I couldn't help it. If I didn't do something mean to one person, it meant that I was doing mean stuff to another person, and people from my past were in the dreams almost blackmailing me to do these mean things. Needless to say I didn't sleep well last night either. I felt sick for about 1 hour last night, and then it went away. I don't feel sick today, but I do feel mellancholly for some unkown reason. I am almost always happy, too, so this is really odd. Something seems off, but I'm not sure what is wrong. I am getting along well with my wife, and my co-workers aren't really making more mad than usual. The Rockets have won 2 in a row. I don't know what it could be. I'm sure it is just a phase that will pass soon. Anyone else had inexplicable bouts of something similar to this?
I never sleep well. I average 5 hours a night. This morning I woke up at 3:30 AM, got dressed to go to the gym, and decided to make a pot of coffee before I left. Ground up the beans, added the water, flipped the switch, and nothing happened. My $20 coffee maker crapped out after four years. So...after my workout, I swing by the neighborhood WalMart at 5:00 AM and pickup a new $20 Mr. Coffee. WalMart at 5AM is like being on another planet.
I don't think you're going crazy at all. This kind of thing happens to me every once in a while. I usually just try to put things in perspective and ride it out. It usually passes after a while. As for the sleeping, take a shot of Nyquil.
I can't stand going to WalMart...unless it's at an odd hour like that! It feels a little bit like a zombie movie. FB -- i'm sure it will pass. i go through periods where i don't sleep as well. i was sick over the weekend and had some nightmares mixed in with my fever...maybe you have a little bug.
A safe herb to take for sleep is valerian root. Most drug stores have it. Take a few an hour before sleep. It doesn't really work for me as much as exercise before sleep, but several people have told me it works like a charm for them.
Maybe you need to go out and do something different than your daily routine... When I'm feeling blue, I go to Bellaire and get me some of that Pho
hmmm...what could be the cause of this, I wonder?? ahah! my guess is that anyone whose devoting that much of their time to coffee probably drinks a lot of it. I know I'm not a perfect eater/drinker. I don't drink coffee, and don't overdo sodas or other caffeineited drinks, try and keep fast food to a minimum, etc. But I do know for a fact that on days where I do eat/drink worse, especially if it happens a lot in a row, so I have a bad week nutrition-wise, I feel worse and sleep worse.
I'll second Valerian. I had a lot of trouble sleeping for almost three months, where I'd only sleep a couple of hours a night. I started taking Valerian about three weeks ago, and have slept great for the last couple of weeks. It's not a quick fix, but if you take it over a period of time you'll definitely sleep better.
You're not crazy, just sleep deprived...I have to have 8 hours or else I'm a cranky b*stard... I have weird dreams every once in a while, so i think its more of a phase...maybe you just need to get laid...
Will they help me sleep? I haven't seen any of them. I think there are 2 or 3 now. Thanks all for the sleeping advice. I actually have some prescribed non-addictive medication that will help me sleep. It's just that the next day I am pretty drowsy, so I don't like to take them, and haven't had to in years. Maybe I will have to start them up again.
Have you tried Ambien? As long as you give yourself a solid 8 hours before you need to wake up, it'll get you to sleep, for sure. Out, like a light. Someone could wake you up, have a conversation, you'd nod, and not remember a thing the next day. Not something you'd want to do too often, but great if you've had insomnia for a few days and really need to knock yourself out and "catch up" on your sleep. Valerian is an old remedy, but it didn't work for me, for some reason.
Did you just take it every once in a while? I did a lot of research on valerian before I decided to start taking it and just about everything said that in order for it to be effective, you need to take it on a consistent basis. After a week or so, I really noticed that I was sleeping a lot better.
Maybe I'll try it. I used to have chronic insomnia for over 10 years. I finally went to the doctor and he gave me some Trazidone, which is really an anti-depressant, but it has the side of effect of sound sleep. It doesn't harm you if you don't need an anti-depressant and it isn't addictive. I took it for about 6 months, and then I didn't need it anymore. The next day drowsiness is noticible, but it didn't stop me from doing anything too much, and would eventually go away. Maybe I will have to check out Ambien.
Every once in a while. Maybe you're right! I've had great results with Ambien, however. I'm a night owl, but at times when I simply can't get to sleep, 3am or not, one of those does the trick. Only if I don't have to get up early, however. What I usually do is take one after several days without enough shut-eye, but at 10pm or so. Boom! Got my 8 hours and can get up early. Like anything, just don't make a habit of it.
