After years of unconsciously cheering for them & watching them play since 1997...I think I finally realized im a Red Sox fan. Weird....
god damnit you're no better then the people who for no reason at all cheer for the yankees. not that there's anything wrong with that.
Hate everything about the Red Sox. At least the Yankees are universally-hated. The media fawning over the Red Sox and their "underdog" image (despite being Yankees-lite) sickens me. And the next few months should the Red Sox win (with the Pats dominating and the Celtics resurgance) will be ugh...
I still would rather the Red Sox win and get all the media attention over a team like the Cubs. I would loathe the day the Cubs actually see some real success... which may be never.
Same thing happened to me. I had a roommate that was a die hard Yankees fan, so I became a Red Sox fan just to spite him. It's been 5 years since we were roommates, but I've continued to cheer for the Sox. They'll always play 3rd fiddle to the Astros and the Angels though.
At this point, I hate the Red Sox more than te Yankees. The Red Sox piss me off more than any other professional sports team
I like Manny, so I root for the Sox. But I'm really not a Sox fan 'cause they don't play real baseball. Leave that to the NL teams. Go 'Stros.
Why not change your nickname to BANDWAGON_LOVER ? That opening post of yours sounded like Dave Attell's: "I'd rather have a *boat*, 'cause you can name a boat. And a boat doesn't get in trouble like a child, it doesn't do drugs, or get arrested, or go away to Burning Man and come home and say, 'Daddy, I'm no longer a boat, I think I'm a *ferry*'-- it doesn't do that!"
Its still better for baseball when the historic/popular teams do well... 10 years from now, it will be hard to name the winner of the 2001 World Series (Arizona Diamondbacks), but most fans know the Red Sox broke the curse in 2004, and how the Yankees haven't won since 2000.
