Despite all the grumbling and whining about bradass on the forum recently, i remain steadfastly in his corner. I am still convinced this was a great offseason acquisition and i don't think all this hatred towards brad is warranted. just because the dude isn't a defensive center does not mean that he is playing poorly.. it's just that he ISN'T A DEFENSIVE CENTER. so quit expecting it. yea, he may be in a little slump from 3, but give me a break.. i relish every time he throws one of those great backcut passes. anyway, this is a thread for those who still want brad on this team.

Yes, he would have been a good offseason signing if Yao had not gotten injured. But, because Yao did get injured, Miller's flaws have been more pronounced. He wasn't worth the $5+ mil we signed him to.

Not a defensive center... Hmm what's the point of a center then?

He is not starting material anymore, but he wasn't brought here for that. He has been good for our bench and I still support him as well.

If you want to blame anybody it should be Adelman for not recognizing when players are overmatched or tired and not doing nothing about it.

He's in the middle of a shooting slump, probably because of increased minutes with Hayes out. He's one of our best players in a half-court offense. His defense is really bad, though, and he's not a good rebounder, so you need good team defenders around him to mask his deficiencies on that end. But, without the size, you could say that about all our players.

I am still mad at him for changing the momentun of that game with his b****ing. Until he does something significant he is going to be in my doghouse.
I hope you are right because unlike you, I look at him with the glass half empty lenses. I cringe when I look at his percentages from last year and I fear that what we're seeing from him now is the norm and what we got from him in the beginning of the season was just a hot stretch. Taking those lenses off, I see him shooting a bit better than this cold stretch but definitely not as good as his hot streak.

The Brad Miller bashing is stupid. He was brought in to backup Yao Ming.

With Yao now out, Brad has an expanded role, which is not what the Rockets wanted, but he's doing all he can.

His November was of course a hot streak. I didn't expect him to continue shooting 50% on 3s, or whatever it was.

Miller is a well-rounded offensive player, though. He can make plays with the pass, stretches defenses, and isn't half bad at making a play off the dribble either. I don't expect him to be a high percentage shooter, but I do think having him on the floor makes our offense much better.

Perfectly valid points. My biggest expectation from him is his mentoring of J Hill and Patterson, although the former seems farther away from emulating Miller with each passing game, I think Patterson can absorb a lot from him.

I love what Miller's done so far, but I think the second unit has gotten too dependent on him to initiate the offense from the high post. His "point center" role should be complementary to the point guard's playmaking role, not a replacement of it.

Also, because Miller plays so much on the perimeter, the team needs physical guys at both forward positions to battle in the paint. Budinger tries to get in there sometimes, but overall Houston is constantly at a disadvantage inside and doomed to be reliant on their jumpshots.

The dude is as slow as a snail but you nailed it, for those with short memories Miller was excellent in getting the second unit running(which was his role when he signed) and with the ability to shoot from deep and do his old crafty moves getting to the basket I am amazed people always jump on him for the odd mistake on offense. Sure he isn't a great defender but I am sure the Rockets knew that when they signed him, if he struggles too much that's why we have Chuck Hayes. It's easy to hang **** on him now when the two guys he was meant to share minutes with are out injured. Yao was meant to be the main man, Brad was your guy when you wanted offense and the Chuckster was your man when you needed D. Hill obviously has forced his way in now and can do both but I still think if the others are healthy Jordan is a better PF than C.

He looks worse than he is on defense because he shares the floor with Budinger, Hill and AB.

If all he had to do is worry about his own man, he would be serviceable, but if you are asking him to make rotations cos other people get burnt then he is pretty much cannon fodder out there.

I don't think he sucks, he just has no business getting playing time on this team
