I tell you what, what a nice man he is.

I was like "Hey, aren't you Emanual Davis?"and it was.

I said to him "If you had not torn your ACL against the Lakers, the Rockets could have beaten the Jazz in playoffs. (in 97). You could been the difference. We needed a point guard."

He was like, yeah maybe. However he said that the injury was a blessing and it changed his life. He settled down afterward. he quit partying and settled down with his wife, who was also at Hackberry.

Obviously, he was beginning to assert himself as an NBA player before the injury happened. And then afterward, He could not really get back into the rotation .

He said that he was just trying to establish himself in the NBA at that point..and then I told him that he was thriving in Seattle.

He mentioned that he did have a quality season this year, maybe his best by the way he told me.

I'm glad his NBA career has turned for the better. It could not happen to a nicer guy.

    I always did like E-mail.

I'm glad to hear he's a nice guy in person.

i wonder if the Sonic announcers ever get mixed up and accidentaly call him emmanuel lewis (with rashard being on the same team and all). that'd be kinda funny.

anyway, if it wasn't for Matt Maloney's clutch treys we wouldn't have gotten past Seattle to play Utah so don't go blaming him for that postseason.

Emanual lived on the floor below me in an apartment complex in 97 when he hurt his knee and was rehabbing. He was a great guy, as mentioned, and he wasn't a bad nba live 97 player either. He and Randy Livingston (and Randy Livingston's buddy/hanger-on) used to come up and drink a little and play playstation. It was mildly hilarious.

oh and by the way, in reference to the post a month or so ago about Oakley and his claim about mar1juana smoking, both Emanual and Randy said that at least 70% of the players smoked weed. the thinking (which i agree with, to be honest) is that the nba winked at it because players would stay out of trouble easier if they were sitting around getting high than if they were out clubbing, drinking and driving, etc.
