I know I am going out on a limb here, risking permanent ridicule from everyone on this board, but I think Cato will have a spectacular season next year, will suit up for all 82 games never falling to injury, play a majority of minutes at the center for us due to various continuous injuries to our other high-priced underachieving center Hakeem Olajuwon, and have an all-round breakthrough season to establish himself as the other premier center out west. Not only will Cato lead the league in rebounding but he will come a close second in blocked shots, followed at the #6 and #7 spots respectively in each of those categories by teammate and bud Eddie Griffin, on his way to earning unanimous, hands down ROY status and the envy of six teams who passed up THE NEXT BIG THING. The other Rockets continue to improve and we make it all the way to the Conference Finals where we unfortunately lose to LA due to a freak injury to Cato, the centerpiece of this franchise.

Mr. President. No man thinks more highly than I of three legged cows. They deserve to live. On my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of reason. Cows with three legs are good. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth : three-legged cows are better. They are better because the meat on them is better. The steaks are more tender. Three-legged cows tend not to wander as much. These cows could be the symbol of our country. The world would look upon us with great respect. They will want our cows and pay good money for them. The cows could symbolize freedom and hard work and three legs are better than four. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other.

Bingo, I thought you meant like Cato would eat so much that he'd get real fat and be placed on IR for the season. That seems more likely than your scenario. [IMG]

How is getting 12pts 8rebs and 1 to 3 blocks for the year any different than what he did last year? [IMG]

So how many out there have bookmarked this thread?

How many of you after reading the title said "only if a terrorist hits his car"?"

    I did.

Sing along with me boys and girls (I'm sure you can guess the tune. Kelvin, if you're listening, just follow the bouncing ball... oh wait. Nevermind.) :

There was a team who had a slacker and Cato was his naaaame-o.
    Ain't no waaay o...
    Ain't no waaay o...
Ain't no waaay o our center should be Cato.

Cato is going to blow up alright, he's probably going to self-destruct.

Blowing up is probably the next step when you think about it. He's overpayed, has no work ethic, complains... wouldn't getting fat be the next step in this pattern? Shawn Kemp is in Houston for rehab right now, could he and Cato be "training" together? [IMG]

I want to tell you why you're wrong Bingo. I want to list all the reasons that Kelvin Cato will never amount to anything more than a big body, but alas I am in full homer mode, and I cannot.

    Go Cato!

Look out world, here comes the Catomic Bomb!!!

Well, I was curious about what we should really expect from Cato. I was suprised to learn a few things you Cato bashers (lots of bashers of all stripes out there these days) should keep in mind. Re: PPG - only one center in the NBA was in the Top 50 in scoring - Shaq. That is on a scale that goes from Iverson 31 PPG to Brian Grant 15 PPG. Since no one expects Cato to be in the Top 50 in Scoring, 15 PPG would be awesome! 12 PPG would be very productive. Re: Boards. The number "8" was used for boards. That would put Cato in the Top 25 in RPG, which I think we would all be very happy about! Re: Blocks? One and a half a game would be Top 25.

So if Cato can score 12 PPG, grab 8 boards, and block one and a half shots per game, he'll be right outside the Top 50 in scoring, Top 25 in rebounds and blocks. I think that would fit our 5 spot needs pretty well. Hell, he might be one of the better centers in the NBA. Dare I say he'd be a....(shutter) bargain at his current price??? [IMG]

Last year, Cato was my pick to be something worth watching, I was wrong.
If he can produce 13pts, 8reb, 2-3blks as our fulltime center. I'll throw a party down here in South Beach and everybody is invited.
He needs to butch up cause the Rockets need him bad.
If he can play 70 games with those #'s, the Rockets will be back to 55-60 wins.
Griffin will be a star and Cuttino, Stevie, Shandon(??)and Moochie(??)at the gaurds will be awesome.
Langhi looks like Dirk along with Taylor,Griffin,Thomas,Morris and Bullard there a good mix. I think Griffin will be another Warren Sapp, Passed up because of some negatives, then showing the world that you should've pick him. Eddie is the other key and I see 17pts 9rbs 3-4blks.

Cato and Hakeem, it's on Cato. Hakeem 50+ games with 12pts 7rbs is gravy.

Come on Cato, you need to grow some balls this summer.

I was hoping to tastefully chime in with a witty "blow up" joke, but I see I was beaten to the punch.

You all can just blow up.

Until he proves otherwise, I will answer all Kelvin Cato threads with the following two words. You know what they mean.

I was on my home from work last Friday around 4:00P.M. I was listening to 610, and a guest called in to the talk show. this caller claim to own a restaurant. He said Cato visited his establishmenta few weeks ago. He went over to Cato and asked him a question. " What do think about, and are you excited about our chances to land CWeb? Cato's response was " I don't care if we get him or not." The owner replied, "I'm glad I voted last November for a new stadium with you in there.( or something very close to that)" Cato response, "I dont care we would have voted for it weither he was with The Rockets or not."

Now how could any Rocket fan support this a** hole.
