Francis needs to be taught a lesson. He is not bigger than the game and doesnt call the shots. He was spoiled by Vancouver when he got what he asked for and if Orlando gives in whats going to prevent all other players traded from now on to do the same thing. My hate towards Francis has reached to unthought of levels and if he saotages this deal then i would be ok with the rockets trading him to chicago or the clippers for next to nothing. Francis will someday figure out why he will never be invited to an Olympic Team!

I think hate is a strong word and a bit extreme.

I feel more disappointed in him than anything else. Furthermmore, I feel a bit sad for him because all hes doing is tarnishing his image, which he has tried so hard to build up.

You're overlooking all the good he's done for our team and city. All he's doing is voicing his displeasure. Do you expect him to be happy about this situation?
Yes, I'm disappointed that it's affecting us getting this deal done. But if you hate Francis more than Malone then you're an idiot.

He is voicing his displeasure but we all know that behind the scenes his agents are telling orlando he will not play there therefore delaying or maybe nixing this trade. What has francis done for this city that you claim?

    Now that's extreme...

I posted this in Codell's thread...

I don't think what Steve is doing is anything different than McGrady....but, yet according to most...SF is a sabotaging one team and handcuffing the Rockets, Orlando, and most importantly Tracy McGrady...that is garbage.

Look at McGrady. When times get tough, he has no resiliency...no loyalty...Look at Francis...He just WANTS to be a Rocket. He wants to continue to build this team. When SF, Cat, Cato were part of the rebuilding - winning sub-35 games per season with no real guarantee of a turnaround, you didn't hear them threaten to opt out...

Tracy did Orlando a favor by letting them know he would not resign with them and would opt out next year he did not demand a trade. Francis is just used to getting his way, him and Van Gundy will never see eye to eye Van Gundy realized this but never said it publicly this is why no matter what happens Francis will not be a rocket next season.

    Francis has no real leverage.

He is just trying to go down swinging........and hopefully spoiling the party. I bet he must have called Yao to whine and asked for support (I can almost guarrantte that).

One thing is sure - Francis will not be a rocket next season comewhatmay. QED. If it is not TMac then it will be someone else but methinks it is TMac after all is said and done.

It appears that Francis just cannot find a way to divorce his dumb ways.

Francis stuck with this team through some pretty lean years and carried us for several years. I honestly believe he was pouring his heart and soul into this team to try and make it a contender.

For us, we see how T-Mac advances our goal toward winning a championship better than Francis.

BUT put yourself in Francis' shoes and if you are in this situation where you've been giving your all to a team trying to make them a champion and just when they start to get good they want to get rid of you. Arn't you going to fight for yourself? I personally think he'd be an idiot not to fight. I don't have ill-will toward Francis, but it's gonna be ugly if the deal doesnt go through.

This is ALL the Orlando GMs fault ... MANY MANY players have been traded that didn't want to get traded, but part of the business is that they are under contract and they WILL play. When you have a deal you make a deal and don't give the player time to react the way Francis has. Instead Orlando leaked so much info that it is creating a huge mess.

But it's all Francis fault right?

    Come on now....

Steve is just voicing his opinion.

He has that right, and it is a business he should try to get the best deal he can for himself.

    No harm in that.

Steve has always been a guy who reacts with his heart and not his brain....

Tmac is the one that holds all the cards, Steve will be ok.

Steve is not doing anything different than McGrady, but who cares as a Rocket fan I want this deal badly.

Steve lease call Orlando make up and go.

It's all about McGrady is better than Steve- way better

SO I wish Steve's team had never said a word

And I hope they shut up now

And by the way this is the biggest piece of BS that is going around on this BBS these days.

If he didn't have leverage we wouldn't be talking about this now would we? ;)

    Go vote in my poll!

I agree that it is mostly Orlando's fault, but I think Steve could have kept his comments private i.e. to the Rockets and Orlando management only, instead of going through the media. This might have stopped the frenzy of other offers (if it even exists) from coming.

Like Jeff said multiple times in that 37 page thread, people have said his agents are tough people to work with who steer Steve in directions he himself might not normally go in. This may not be Steve's doing, just his agent's way of trying to help.

Trades have happen every year but I have never heard of a player ever saying he would not play for the team if traded a la Francis, but Francis is different he is used to getting his way. Just ask Yao or VanGundy
