I have researched a list of possible players available when the Rockets draft. All of these kids could/would help the Rockets where they are weakest. Joey Graham 6-7 225 SF Oklahoma St.Sr Hakim Warrick 6-8 220 SF/PF Syracuse Sr. Wayne Simien 6-8 255 PF Kansas Sr. Kennedy Winston 6-6 220 SG Ala. Jr. Ryan Gomes 6-8 248 SF Providence Sr. Jawad Williams 6-8 218 SF UNC Sr. My personal favorite is Winston. He is long/athletic and could be an excellent defender. I also like May from UNC, but I don't think he would be available. Please CD do not draft an interatational player to develop in 3 three years. The biggest thing this club needs is some athletes. Another reason I picked these guys is because they are all either Jr or Sr.
Hakim Warrick would be my top choice. A lean, long armed, shotblocker/rebounder, that can jump through the roof. He would be the exact type of power forward that Yao needs next to him.
The way this draft is shaping up, players declaring left and right, none of these guys might get drafted in the first round. Winston has the best shot but isn't a lock. This will be a deep draft. I like Jawad Williams, he could be a great backup 3 for us. If only we could get some 2 round picks..
I think you are right - we will go the SF/PF mix (or pure PF) Graham & Warrick are the best fits for the Rockets - Simien has limited upside and my buddy who went to bama says we want no part of Winston (he is a shooter only - no defense whatsoever)
There is another forum for the NBA draft. Since your new to posting I forgive you. But since we are on the subject. Of those listed I think Simien has the most NBA level size and skills: defense, rebounding, ball handling, and post-up moves. His only downfall is being and inch or two short. Of the others the only guy with NBA level skills and size is Graham. He reminds me a little of Iguodala. He can guard at several positions and is tough.
