I have an assignment in a sociology class where me and a classmate are to discuss then debate the topics of a certain subject. Well me and my classmate were picked to do a very common one.....abortion. What I am asking you all to do is give you're opinions or any facts you know about abortion that make abortion a good thing or make it a bad thing, basically the pros and cons of abortion. The reason I am asking for other people's opinions is because I am pro-life and I want to see why some people see abortion as a good or needed service but I would still like to see any opinions which are for pro-life people like myself. Any statements are appreciated! Thank you!
You can probably do a search on the clutchcity bulletin board and get all of the facts/opinions you need without reopening this topic. It has been discussed a number of times.
I'm personally anti-abortion. I don't think it's up to me to tell other people what to do in this type of situation, so I'm for abortions being legal.
Pro choice? Pro life? I'm pro abortion. The people who want them are exactly the same people I don't want raising kids. ....of course, one could argue that this will eventually lead to more religicists being born and raised.
I'm going to have to say I am against abortion. I don't think a child should pay with its life because someone (man or women) made a stupid mistake. Life is something that you can't bargain.
I don't care. Not my decision to make. If it ever involves me, then I would tell my gf/whatever that I would not want her to have an abortion. But I have no right to tell any other woman what to do. Especially when I know nothing about her life.
Those people deserve to live, too. In a place where they can receive treatment and counseling for their problems (from volunteer groups, of course). This place is not on the street near my home.
Abortion is wrong because killing babies is wrong. It also provides for a double standard, since a criminal can be charged with murder if he kills a womans unborn child, but it is okay for the mother.
Pro Life*. I used to be Pro Choice until I researched this topic and did a bit of soul searching. There is plenty of literature out there showing a just cause for both sides, so good luck. My feeling is that the baby is created at conception and I do not feel it is our right to voluntarily abort the life simply because they feel "We made a mistake." If there are other mitigating circumstances such as incest, rape etc. I can see a need for it.
What is up with all the smiley faces on hotly contested issues, it must be basketball season! Either that, or you guys are turning into a buncha b****ES!!!!!!!!
So does this mean you would support a mother who wishes to terminate her pregnancy in the 9th month? I suspect even the most die-hard pro choicers would disagree with that definition of a baby. You do realize that the fetus is delivered oxygen and rids itself of carbon dioxide through the umbilical cord, in effect, breathing?
I know some people who have lost a baby in labor. I think they would probably disagree with you, considering how their lives were shattered. Then again, you could probably convince them that everything was okay, since their baby never actually took a breath. I'll give you their phone number. They could use some cheering up.
