I am going at it with a die hard Laker fan who is complaining about calls last night. Does anyone have gifs of Lamar stepping out of bounds and Kobe tipping the ball out of bounds? It would be a big help.
honestly, i was unsure about the odom out of bounds call, kobe i thought hit it after scola, but on the replay i was shocked to see odom stay in bounds. bad call in our favor?! omg no way! there were some bad foul calls on BOTH sides, but freethrows did not decide this game, despite the disparity of like 13 or something, they fouled alot at the end of the game, which is why we got so many more freethrows (people always forget this when looking at freethrow disparity and complaining)...but ya sorry no pics good luck in that debate, it's almost not worth bothering
Don't think Odom stepped out of bounds (at least it wasn't conclusive on the replay) and don't remember the tip by Kobe. I think the officiating was as fair as its going to get besides the obvious Kobe knee to Shane and Shane getting hit by a Varejo elbow.....
Just put up a you tube of the 4th quarter of Kings/Lakers game 6 in 2002. Lakers fans have no right to complain about officiating for the rest of the millenium.
The Odom call was closer than people think. TNT did a bad job of zooming in to the point where they thought the call was. It was a actually a step later and they didn't show it very well. The step they showed it was clear Odom was in bounds, but the step after, it almost looked like they heel was on the sideline, but like I said, hard to see. I'd imagine the sideline ref was looking right at it, but who knows? The Kobe tip out of bounds was so obvious. I don't see how that's debatable. Just because Kobe screams at the ref that he's innocent and the crowd chimes in on it? It was definitely off of Kobe. So the first call, maybe a bad call, hard to say with the TNT replay, but the second, definitely the right call.
i am not sure if odom stepped out the ref claimed his heel did and if it did its probably the smallest portion of his knee that did. and i dont think kobe tipped that ball but i would have to see the replay and the spin on the ball to see if it was deflected again. kobe made a huge stink afterwards (which could have been faked since it was in the 4th quarter and every possession counts) surprised most anyone else would have been T'ed up right or wrong. overall there was oddly enough some solid officiating last night, some bad calls on both ends but its hard for the lakers to get to the line when they were shooting jumpers most of the evening.
At first I thought Scola tipped it, but the replay TNT showed appeared to show the ball rolling off scola's fingers briefly touched by Kobe's.
Odom did step out of bound. The commentators even agree after initially having their doubts, after seeing the replay. Kobe touched the ball last on that other play, he had his fingertips on it last after Scola was trying to reach for it. and also, if someone could make a .gif of Yao turning Super Sayain right when he did his spin move on the baseline jam in the first half, that would be epic.
Refs miss/make bad calls every single game. If your friend is really going to argue that LA lost because of the refs, I don't think you're going to change his mind. Fans of the losing team are often stubborn in that way . .
I really think his heel came down but a clip could prove me wrong, but im pretty sure Kobe CLEARLY touched the ball last on that out of bounds.
kobe, you have the most fans in china... but now ,i tell you ,you are a dirty basketball player..,the fans will disappears......... because i loved you when this game played.. say again ..you are a dirty basketball player!!!!!!! 你很脏!!!
tell your friend to stop crying. how about the no-call on a dirty foul by a frustrated Kobe? that's a technical in any other arena. how about the JAB TO BATTIER'S FACE THAT REQUIRED STITCHES? Don't worry, Rockets fans aren't crying over those calls.
Like others have said. Odom did step out of bounds. I really don't know how he did. He stayed out with his right foot, then his left foot landed to the right of his right foot and his heel his the baseline. Talk aobut a complete lack of body control. The Kobe one I'm not sure about. The angle they showed was bad. We need a cross angle to see if there is any space between Kobe's hand and the ball. I'm not sure. Either way show your friend tape of Game 6 2002 WCF and tell him to shut up.
based on the TNT coverage, the Kobe tip was the obvious right call and the Odom out of bounds play was questionable. these are not calls that alter the game. if Lakers fans want to complain about calls like these while ignoring their team's lack of poise, that's fine with me. the slow motion replay clearly showed the ball roll off Kobe's finger.
He didn't step out, looking frame by frame that is the closest his foot came to the line, where his heel (and its shadow) go over it but do not touch down. Its such a dumb but not surprising move on odom's part, bowing out even a little bit on his approach to the basket when he should know how close to the boundary he is. Im trying to pull a screenshot for the Kobe play, and it pisses me off but, upon rewatching frame by frame, I think we got lucky there too. I was really hating Kobe there (or more so) because I thought he was begging for a reversal. Give me a few minutes.
Well - it looks like his heel is touching the line right there... Surely it's hard to be upset about that call?
I'm not sure about the Odom's call. But from the pic above, it appears that he stepped out of bound. I'm pretty sure that kobe tipped the ball out of bound from scola.
