i am wanting to get a tattoo of the chinese character for love i have looked for the characters online but have found so many different characters that its crazy i have seen some love characters in simplified and traditional and some that mean passionate love and dearly love and just different characters all together like look at the google page on the characters i looked up http://images.google.com/images?q=chinese+love&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en i want the symbol for love that you would use to refer to your mother or father or aunt or uncle or any relative and i thought since some of you on this board know the language you could quite possibly help me thank you
Yes. and I believe most NBA players choose this one when they want to get a chinese character meaning 'love'.
thanks rocketkid a couple of question though is that a simplified or traditional symbol which type of love is this symbol referring to
LOL. there was this tatoo artist who said that most non-Asian people are only getting them because it is a trend and that they have no respect for the language , which i believe, so when they go in asking for the symbol for like "love" or "brave" he'd put slut or gay. LOL.
hey dude... the character you have means "love" plain and simple... the exact translation. no connotations. what you have a traditional. what's funny is that you searched and it turned up a bunch... actually they were all the same character. the traditional ones are a little more complex, more strokes.
I hope you are a girl because if any person who understands chinese sees that on you, they will be laughing. hard. if you love whomever so much, why not just get it done in English or French or a big heart so that they can understand it?
