Wireless would be cool, but something that folds up and travels well would be also. Any suggestions???
If you don't mind dropping $50 on a pair of headphones and a pair that plug into your ears doesn't bother you, I give the Sony EX71 my full recomendation... I love them, incredibly great sound (particularly the bass reproduction from such small buds) and I can toss them in my pocket and go.
I have the Sony EX 51's and love them. I like them better than the 71's because its one cord, and doesn't need an extension that can weigh one earpiece down. Amazon has them on sale for $30 bucks. I bought a pair for my GF's Ipod and she loves them too. The one thing I don't like is that each ear's cord is a different size. For some reason Sony thinks people hate having 2 cords of equal size, which I never had a problem with. You might also try the EX 81's which are brand new and have received pretty good reviews. You probably already know this but.... the reason one cord is longer than the other is because you are supposed to put it behind your neck. The wires are not supposed to hang in front of you "stethescope" style. That way you can pull the buds out of your ears and have them hang around your neck. I really like that style. I have the 71s and they are okay. I use them with my Dell DJ when I'm out and about because they isolate outside noises, however, when I'm at home I use Sennheiser PX100s which most reviews say are the best budget headphone you can get. They sound terrific - much better than the Sony's. The problem with them is that they are an open ear design and therefore do not isolate any noise at all from the outside world. But they sound great at home.
I guess your not. Cool someone offered the same advice on a different forum. Im looking into those Sonys most likely. I also like earmuff style headphones, but want something noise cancelling and fold up for easy travel. Thanks!
If you have money to spend (like over $100), I'd recommend anything by Etymotic. I have the ER-6i headphones, and they rock. Very detailed sound, and the bass is improved over the old ER-6 headphones (which I also have). Shure is also a good brand.
The one's EVERYONE uses in the studio are Sony MDR's but they will set you back $100. They have the cleanest and most true sound reproduction I've ever heard and virtually every major studio in the world uses them. They fold up nicely as well and are very comfortable.
I have the Sony 51EX and love them. Great sound for an earbud style and also blocks out some of the background noise.
