Well, im not too great with computers.. so I need some help. I just bought Star Wars Galaxies and after installation it says my current video card doesn't support it. My question is.. what are some good video cards that will be sufficient to play the game. I dont want to spend a buttload on a new card cuz school has hurt me financially.
Man I think that NVIDIA GEforce2 or greater will support it. I'm not sure of the price of those cards. The GEforce 2 is also old, and may be hard to find. I do think you could maybe get a GEforce4MX though. It won't be the best card, but you will be able to play with it. I'm guessing a card like that runs from somewhere $69-$100. I know that's a big range, and I can't totally vouch for that. But you do need to get a card. The game is a blast and I play it whenever I get some free time(not often enough.)

Yeah video cards keep changing. There is new a Raedon 9700 pro card or something like that, which is supposed to be terrific. The new NVIDIA GEforce FX cards are really good as well. I have GEforce 4ti 4600. If you have the money spend it on a better card than then one I originally suggested. The NVIDIA line goes from best to worst. 1.GEforce FX 2.GEforce 4ti 3. GEforce 4mx. And then the higher the number after it, the better is (4600 is better than a 4200). A better card and extra RAM make the biggest difference in game play.

first of all, how's your PC? is it up to date or are you running some P2 machine? a nice, new, high-falootin' video card ain't gonna do you no good if you don't have the motherboard to support it... good luck.
Just installed the card.. I have a P4 1.7 GHz 512MBRAM computer.. it just came with a crappy video card. The computer seems to be running faster now Off to galaxies!! WOOHOO!
Heck yeah I will help you out. I'm in the Scyla(sp?) Galaxy. I'm rebel faction all the way, and I'm in the ERA(Elite Rebel Alliance.) I'm not real advanced as far as my skills go though. I'm an expert pistol working toward Smuggler.
Dang you bought that thing fast. I bought a nVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5200 for $99 from BestBuy about a week ago. I needed one since i only had my integrated crap video on my motherboard (new computer).
If you're like the millions waiting for Half Life 2 or CounterStrike: Condition Zero, don't you need to get the ATI 9700 or better? Just curious, cuz then you mite as well save your money until then and get the video card when it's a little cheaper.
