Guys...I think RA needs to be fired...seriously. I mean our team is way underachieving even without Yao. And when teams underachieve coaches get fired, its how its done, it comes with the territory. I think our defensive habits that carried over from JVG are wearing off (and RA is being exposed) as our roster only includes 2 main rotation players that played under JVG (Battier and Hayes - funny how they are the only ones who play D also) and RAs bad sense of defense is rubbing off on everyone. We are good on rebounds, assists, and PPG we are on of the top teams all three of those categories yet we still lose. I think that win for LA was bigger for RA than it was for Rockets, and in turn could be worse for Rockets because it somewhat secures RAs job (not that it really is in danger as far as Rockets management is concerned). It saddens me to see that we will probably never be as good as when we had Tracy...c'mon RA you can't let that happen and be the one who Shunned out Tracy like if he was AI or Marbury. Tracy was the supposed reason why we couldn't get things done now he's gone RA...DO SOMETHING!!!
hey dude. before i say anything, i want you to know that we are all listening to you. your emotional needs are being met. Now, there have been many threads like this before, so you'll likely take some heat because of this and not the fact that you want RA outta here. rating: terrible
Can we stop with these threads? He isn't getting fired! Now the only prob that I have is that I wish RA would've changed the lineup at the end to bring in some 3 point shooters (not only to make a 3, but spread the floor)
I think this is this one of those instances of low volume posters making their few posts count by starting a thread, rather than their one post getting buried inside an existing thread. I don't think ridding of McGrady was all an Adelman thing, I'm sure it was a collective franchise decision and mostly McGrady's own undoing. If they bring in a new coach, I'll think that means they're cleaning house all together. I don't think they'll bring in another coach to lead THIS same bunch.
A few things: 1. Without Yao and Brooks on the team, we basically have as much talent as the Philadelphia 76ers. Brand and Scola are comparable, Iggy and Martin are comparable (even though they don't play the same style, i'm just talking talent). I would probably take our role players over Philly's but you don't win championships with role players. So really... I don't know what your expectations were playing the majority of our games so far with no Yao or Brooks. 2. We don't have a #1 option. Martin, Scola, Brooks and Yao would all be solid #2 scoring threats for other playoff teams. Having 4 #2 types isn't exactly a bad thing. The Pistons won a title that way, the Spurs won a few titles that way. But they also had defense and chemistry, which we don't have at that level. I don't really know what to tell you. We've gotten off to a bad start, but I think realistically we were looking at a high 40s win total for the season... which could have gotten higher if Yao had a good season (which he hasn't obviously).
Also... I think people really need to appreciate the good things Adelman has brought. I mean... you watch the games, and we don't have a superstar post threat that can draw double teams... that demands the defense game plan against him. We used to have that with pre-injury Yao (and hopefully he gets back there). We also don't have a guy that can get to the basket and finish at will. If we could combine Martin, Brooks and Lowry's abilities... we'd have that type of player. The point is... we don't have these types of players but we're able to get easy baskets and open shots on the offensive end of the floor night in and night out. Guys like Brad Miller, Buddinger, Lowry and Battier are going off for 15-20 points every other night it seems. This isn't because they are good. It's because Adelman's system gets them easy baskets. The defense leaves a lot to be desired. But I think we have the personnel to be good on the defensive end of the floor, we just need the chemistry on that end.
No team gains anything firing a coach in-season. Adelman'd done a good job so far. I'll wait and see where we are in April with Brooks and Yao healthy (hopefully) and whatever trades are made to better the team for the playoffs.
Hmmmm.... The team just won 2 games in a row.... They are finally learning each other's game and playing with confidence Played in a back-to-back and went into OT and lost 119 - 116.... Yeah.. You guys are right... We need to fire the coach.
There starting to put it together, this month is make it or break it. I want him gone but that's b/c I just don't like his game management although it is better than earlier this season. But realistically it to early to FIRE your HeadCoach. Maybe after Decrmber but not know. Let's bring this thread up after this month. Hopefully no change is needed.
aaaahhhhh . . . the retelling of the MYTH OF RA NOT GOOD WITH DEFENSE This is up there with the TWAS NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS "and all through the house. . not a creature was stirring . . not even a mouse" Rocket River
he is underachieving... without yao and brooks? how much can you achieve without two of your best players? i think rick proved last year that he can overachieve. we also learned that without yao we are not even a playoff team. without yao and brooks we are not even a .500 team. so thats where the team is and you want to blame rick?
We have spent 3+ years assembling players with the right skill set to fit the mold of the Adelman system and now you want to abandon that. Simply put...no If you assemble everything to perfection and it just isnt good enough, then that is the time to go in a different direction. Now is not that time.
