Just saw this on tv. These guys only buy from growers who are environmentaly conscious and pay extra to make sure the workers aren't being exploited. They even have a new blend named after my mom's home country; Nicaragua. I think I might send her some. Anyways, if you are a coffee aficionado, I recommend you try this, I know I am. http://www.summitcoffee.com/ Click on "Sustainability" to read about their responsible corporate practices.
I see someone else was watching Food Network as well! I'm currently drinking tea instead of coffee, but if I switch back (which I always do) I'll definitely check out Summit.
Oski2005, please get back to us on this once you taste the coffee. Seriously, update this thread from the scrapheap, and I (for one) will keep track. Everytime I have tried to drink coffee in a responsible way (avoid chains, buy at mom-n-pop shops, drink eco-n-labor-friendly), I end up with a cup full of coffee that tastes like a$$.
I've developed a morning coffee-evening tea habit. Decaf all the way. I like the Tazo Chai from Starbucks for my tea.
You should try this....the rarest most expensive coffee in the world. Kopi Luwak Good to the last dropping
Doesn't Starbvucks have a line of 'fair market' coffees? I tried one, was unimpressed, but I'm going to try their Mexican Shade-Grown next trip.
Did you know : The most expensive coffee in the world comes from monkey poop ** EDIT : Didn't see MoonDogg's post... my bad.
