Well helllllooooo all!!! FINALLY!!! I am BACK!! After 11 days in the hospital and no computer, I return!!! I had emergency surgey 2 Tuesdays ago to remove a hugely inflamed and infected appendix AND 8 INCHES OF INTESTINE that was infected. My intestines were blocked, so I was thriving in pain that night. So I went to the ER, and after a CT scan, they decided my intestines were inflamed and surgery was necessary. I was scared sh!tless, but I figured it was just an appendectomy, but nope, doctor's took out 8 inches of intestine. Being a Crohn's Disease sufferer, I was pleased to have the infected area removed. Im weak, tired, have no strength, but am happy to get the hell out of the hospital after 11 days of confinement. Anyway, what have I missed? Anything intersting? Anybody really notice my lack-of-prescence? I'm also making a list of stuff I should get to "feel better". I need help for suggestions!!! I gained strength from the amazing 24-point comeback the other night against Washington, just to be slightly disappointed in OT. Anyway, I'm getting better and it's great to be back!!!
Thanks to all so far!!! What happens is, with Crohn's, the intestines become inflamed, but I contracted a bacteria (C. Dif) that made the affected area even more infected and painful. So, imagine being constipated for a week (which I wasn't, but it felt like it), meaning nuthin' was goin' thru, to put it bluntly. Also, another piece of trivia is that I literally didn't swallow anything for the first 5 days in there. All I had was ice chips to wet my mouth. Yeah Celebrex is good, but the pain isn't too bad currently, so I'm just on Loritab if I need it. I finally saw the pictures of what they removed, and I doubt anyone else would wanna see them. Having said that, I'm goinna print the picture on a t-shirt and wear it proudly, lol!!!
I am relieved on your behalf that the 8 inches you are missing is your intestine... Get well, best wishes.
Glad you are feeling better. I also have Chron's disease and had an appendectomy this summer. It was probably the most intense pain of my life. Hope your recovery continues well and pretty soon you'll be good as new.
Actually no, but now that I've read it!!! Well have you had any major problems with your condition? Mine was pretty much under control until the last few months. Did you have anything else besides the appendectomy? I might wanna chat some more bout it in the future. It's weird cuz you don't know or see many Crohn's patients (unless you're in support groups or organizations), but today, I talked with two people who have Crohn's. Interesting. Thanks again to all for the support!!! Keep them jokes comin' .
I've had some flare ups in the past, but nothing recently. I was pretty bad when it was first diagnosed (it probably took near a year from when the symptoms first started). Since then I think I've had 2 major flare ups over the last 9 years or so and few minor things. Fortunately, the problems with my appendix were containted enough that it didn't require anything else being removed. The surgery wound up being more complicated then a normal appendectomy because of precautionary reasons, but it wasn't as bad as what you had to go through it sounds. If you want to talk about it in the future, shoot me an email whenever.
