Battier already. If u saw the game the guy had like 10 deflections, hustling boards, the works. If the rest of the guys showed up we might had a chance. Also this team needs to get a little cockier and meaner. Maybe Bonzi will help on that department.
PS the Jazz could not miss in the 1st quarter. And the refs were piece of cra#p today

I agree with you. Battier is one of those that's stat line doesn't reflect exactly how much impact he had on the game. No matter what Rudy Gay did, it's the first game of the season, and Battier is a proven commodity. I'm still glad we got him.

I could not believe what I saw in the first half. Jazz couldn't miss even if they had Yao Ming covering them (twice I think). Man, where did JVG's defence go? I know we let up the offense a bit (not to much good) but I expect the defence to still be there. Ah well, at least McGrady got 9 assists and a couple of steals, should be good for my fantasy league.

The game wasn't much fun to watch considering we were behind for the nearly the whole game but there were a few positives to take from the game and i definitely think battier's hustle and intangibles were one of them. I for one am just happy to see a thread started that isn't bashing our players or coaches and is actually giving them a pat on the back

I also like battier. He is the player that Rockets need. Just now I learned from an article saying that Gay got 21 points, 8 rebounds today vs Newyork, but I do not think he is the kind of player suitable for rockets. His 21 points was got by 20 shooting attempts(made 8) while Battier's 11 points wad got only by 6 shooting attempts. There are Tmac and Yao Ming which will not allow a new player to get so many shooting attempts like Gay got today. ALthough we lost the first game, but maybe it is not a bad thing which will make us realize the reality and improve in the future games. Wish Wells back soon, wish Vspan get some playing minutes!

Battier is an asset for the team. No doubt about that. But still need to figure out how to get enough rebound when he and Yao are the post presence.

Still think he's more suited for SF position give that Yao is not Dewight Howard. If Hayes can hustle as well as Battier, he should be playing alongside Yao to ensure the near-post rebounding.
