I Love Steve Francis. I think he is an extremely talented player and pound for pound the best point guard in the NBA. His speed and agility surpass those of other point guards and his mere presence brings fear to the other teams. I will forever be a loyal fan to him. Everyone who is saying bad things about him needs to stop and realize that they are no one to criticize him. You people can't possibly do what he does on the court. He is a great blessing to the Houston Rockets. I absolutely love the man.

I know how to pass to the open man! I know how to trust my Team! I know not to wait for rebounds and get the fast break going! I know that when I am playing one of the other top Point Guards I must stick like glue to him ,so that I can defend him!

I don't; I think he is the most overrated player in the NBA. Prediction, he will never lead any NBA team to a championship and he will never be in the NBA Hall of Fame. Great athlete, great leaper, strong, has moves, but undisciplined, "appears" selfish, streetball/playground instincts, makes the the game harder, poor decision making, poor passer, high turnover rate, doesn't play defense. What's to love basketballwise? (May be a lovely person, but, somehow, I doubt it.) If the NBA was a playground one on one game where points were given for style and circus shots, Francis would clean up. But it isn't, and he won't. I would have never never signed him to a maximum contract. But the Rocket's recent contract history speaks for itself.

I love him too. He will be a great second fiddle to Yao, but never a superstar. But that's okay...

i like steve francis's game a lot, but he's not as quick as stephon marbury or as good a passer. francis is a clutch player but stephon is a much better shooter and just overall player. he also has more poise than francis. francis seems to overreact when his team is down (ex. praying and kicking the ball and getting technicals when his team is down, that's his basic flaw) otherwise he's a great player. (brought to you by a new suns fan)
    ;)

If he were 2 inches taller, he'd be one of the best SG's in the NBA. Unfortunately, he's not, so he's a mediocre PG and he'll be a mediocre SG next season.

SF will be like Marbury in the future but better in my opinion. I think he's genuinely more athletic then Marbury, but Marbury is more muscular then him. Both have explosive drives to the basket and can create shots on their own, but as it is now Marbury I think is more mature mentally then SF is, and is in better physical shape then Francis. If Francis puts on 10 or 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason like he said he would, he'd probably be as strong as Marbury currently is, and if we show enough patience, he'll mature enough to reach not just being a great player, but an elite. This is one of the few guys in the NBA currently who I think has the potential to average a triple double or close numbers a season and do it effectively in the process.

This statement is r****ded. You don't have to be able to do what someone else does in order to criticize them. I'm sure Rudy can't do what Steve does either, but I hope he doesn't feel the same way you do. Steve's problems aren't physical, they are mental. Unfortunately, mental problems can be the hardest to solve, just look at Ryan Leaf, Shawn Kemp, and JR Rider. I would also say that Earl Boykins is probably pound for pound the best PG in the NBA.

Steve deserves a break if for nothing else for the great ping pong ball heist he performed last summer.

Oh come on now. Steve is a me first person and the team be damned. As long as Steve is the point guard we will go nowhere.

PGabriel, Yes and if Francis had their skill, discipline, basketball smarts, and guts we would at least be in the playoffs.

"Maybe a lovely person, but, somehow, I doubt it."

You doubt if he's a lovely person? Why, b/c he doesn't play BASKETBALL the way you'd like or even the way I'd and most of us would like? *lol*

And who are we to say who won't be in the Hall of Fame and who will be w/o five years @ least under their belt? Any talk like this is premature. Would you have believe me if I told you four years ago that Grant Hill, after the first few seasons of his career in the NBA, would have NO CHANCE @ the basketball HOF? Of course you wouldn't, Grant was originally the "next Jordan." Statistcally, there were few players better than Hill. But that's obviously not the case now and the Hall -- baring a miraculos comeback by Hill -- is more than likely out of the question .

Steve is a great talent. The only problem I have with him is that speed and agility are all that sets him apart from other players. Yes, that's significant. But physical skills can only take a player so far. If Steve develops mentally before his skills deteriorate, he will be unstoppable. However, the thought of having a Steve Francis on my team with diminished skills and the same mentality scares me to death. I'd like to see the heart of a champion, and I doubt there's anyone who will claim that we've seen that in the last few games, with the playoffs on the line. I'd also like to see the brain of a champion. :)
