I just caught the tail end of an interview with Shaq on ESPNews. He's asked about the Christmas showdown in LA and he replies that [not exact] "it will be the most watched game in the history of sports. it will be. its all about hype. ESPN will hype it up, NBC will hype it up, Chinese stations will hype it up, Yugoslavian stations will hype it up. I'll probably say some things to hype it up. It's all about hype, and I'm all for it because it helps the game." Hilarious. I love this guy.
Yea, I thought it was pretty funny as well. "The MOST watched game in history of sports." I guess he thinks everyone and their mother will postpone all the holiday dinners and gift-giving so they can all watch him and Kobe go at it. And, of course you know what will happen in the game. Nothing. It will be an all-hype, no substance game where we all hope we see some big fight between the two and they will just ignore each other. I also thought it was interesting when they asked him about Phil Jackson's book. "I haven't read, I haven't heard anything about it. But Phil speaks nothing but the truth." lol, too funny!
I am tired of this Shaq/Kobe nonesense. It's just another game for me. Personally I would rather see a Yao/Shaq or Duncan/Garnett matchup. A Matchup where the individuals actually PLAY against one another. Shaq vs. Vlade and Kobe vs. Eddie Jones is the Matcup in the Heat/Lakers game. Whoopie! Everything else is just BS media hype. whatever.
I couldnt agree more. Nothing but hype. I bet ya Shaq & Kobe are gonna get a little bonus for hyping this game up. The sad part about this that chumps like us are already buying into this hype.
Unrelated: I heard Rudy on a radio interview this morning. Made me all sad to hear him talk about basketball as the damn Lakers coach.
