I know it's early but I was out shopping this weekend and saw all the decorations in the mall and thought, I love this time of year. We bought an ornament and started discussing the kid's presents on the way home. Today I booked my first office party of the for $****.00. Looks like it's gonna be a great season!
I'm with ya...I've been listening to Christmas music at work most of the day...and we set up a little Christmas tree in my son's room over the weekend...getting out the rest of the decorations this coming weekend, I think.
I'm gonna do more "Christmas touring" this year. When I was a kid every weekend it seemed we went out to look at Christmas lights, this year I'm gonna put my kids through the same torture.
I HATED going out to look at Christmas lights. What can you do that is MORE boring? And why do all parents put their kids through that torture.
Yeah, I love it, too. This one will be weird because I'm not spending it with my family. New RM95's Girl and I are going to Chicago to see my parents for Thanksgiving, then I'm spending Christmas with her family.
I'll tell you what if you get the Oscar Petersen Christmas Album (jazz), you will listen all day too!
Remember when Christmas used to be about celebrating the birth of Christ? Apparently, now it's about office parties, decorations, presents and 'touring'. Shameful. And for those of you who put their trees up before Thanksgiving, I would like to point out that the 12 days of Christmas *begin* on December 25 and end on January 6 (Epiphany), the day that marks the arrival of the wise men.
you're right...it is about Christ. it still is. my decorations, notwithstanding! somehow I think Jesus will be just fine, despite the fact I put up a tree ahead of time! your legalism sounds familiar, though...i think when that little baby grew up, he talked about that a whole bunch.
It's a given for humans that celebrate Christmas (hence the "Christ" part of Christmas), you wouldn't understand. I'm organizing the Christmas presentation at my church, you wanna play Scrooge?
I'm rather looking forward to the forgotten holiday, Thanksgiving Nothing like Turkey, Pumpkin Pie, eating yourself sick and watching football.
My rule is, nothing Christmas related until after Thanksgiving... So, LA LA LA LA LA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU, LA LA LA LA!!!!!
I love the holidays beginning with Halloween and going through New Year's. Oh, and TJ, originally Christmas was a pagan holiday. Christians co-opted the Winter Solstice. Jesus wasn't born anywhere close to December. There have been fall and winter holidays dating back thousands of years. Frankly, who cares? As long as we have cooler weather, the holiday season is the best time of year.
Exactly. I love Christmas and all, but please - not yet! The stores sell a lot of Halloween stuff, so at least it doesn't clutter too many shelves until then, but on November 1st, out it comes. Well, I don't care. Please ignore it. The day after Thanksgiving, you can get into it. Sing all your Christmas songs from that day on until - not only the 25th - but the rest of the Twelve Days of Christmas. If we don't keep it contained a little bit, it's going to be Christmas all year round... everyone might get sick of it. For my part, I hope I can get "into" Christmas more this year. I have tons of Christmas clothes and decorations, but the last couple of years I've just been going through the motions. I think it would help to have kids to share it with. This year, I don't know how the actual holidays are going to be (we'll be missing a beloved family member from this year forward ), but hopefully we can get together with the extended family and carry on...
