"I like Houston. I think they're the second-best team in the West."-Charles Barkley...

Barkley said this is an interview prior to the charity game last night. He also mentioned that SA is the clear-cut favorites to repeat, and that he sees Dallas as no real threat...Barkley also said he liked the Swift and Anderson signings...

Heck YEAH!!!! KEEP PREACHING IT! GO CHARLES! When we start wooping teams' butts this year I can't wait to see Kenny Smith reminicent about his old days with the Rockets and watch him root for us. We have Drexler as the regular home games commentator and Kenny Smith up there on TNT. Heck maybe when the we're playing in this year's finals we can have Dream on ABC!

didn't he used to hate on Yao all the time? I always hated him for that.

He did say later that Houston will only be as good as Yao can make them. He said you know what you're going to get from the other guys, but Yao will be the deciding factor. I think he just holds Yao to a high standard. He knows how talented he is, so expects him to play to his true capabilities.

Chuckles is the source's mouth. He is just not a credibly insightful analyst.

Still, even a broken clock is right once a night, which is enow for Ol' Barks.

If this isn't the kiss of death thrown back at Houston I don't know what is. Barkley's had recurring bouts of foot in mouth disease for the past 2 or so decades. His statement isn't so much an endorsement as it is a curse... :(

You don't treat somebody like he knows **** and then think all of sudden he got smart after he said one nice thing about you. Charles is still an idiot, but even idiots are right occasionally.

seems like he dogged on the rockets (and jvg) any chance he got last year. very encouraging to hear him of all people saying that.

of course s.a. is the runaway favorite, but anything can happen!

I like CB, and he just says what he thinks. Now he likes our team. Good.

I never really cared when he didn't though. He can like who he wants.

He's more of an entertainer than analyst. And he's good at providing controversy.

He's right. I like this team too, but I feel that we will only be slightly better than last year because we still have not moved dead wait pieces from the team like WESLEY, BAKER, MOOCHIE to name a few.

Only slightly better than we were the second half of the season. Don't forget that crappy start last year. If we play all season this year as sell as we played the last half of the season last year, I don't think it's impossible that we finish with a better record than SA. Especially if Timmy goes down to injuries as he did last year.

I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm just saying it's possible.

I hope you are right, because he didn't say we were the best. Maybe his foot-in-mouth will mean the Rockets are #1 and Spurs #2.

Speaking relatively objectively, I think we have to be seen as the only legitimate threat to the Spurs from the West, but it would be quite bold to predict ahead of the them. If Chuck was bold he would predict us 1st.

If Yao takes a big step forward, and the rest of the players fit to a T, it is conceivable (but not probable) we take out the Spurs full strength to full strength. No other WC team can say this, the Suns are clearly weaker and lost 4-1 last year anyway, the only way they are conveivably WC champs are if TD or Manu goes down.

Moochie and Baker are dead weight. David Wesley was our starting shooting guard and a key reason why we started winning. Don't forget it wasn't until after we acquired him that we really went on a tear. It's not right to call a key contributor dead weight. I can understand still wanting to see an upgrade of talent at his position, but to call him dead weight isn't justified. He was a contributor.

Charles Barkley also commented on TMac's legs saying, "look at them legs, they look like sticks...I seen a chicken walk by the other day with legs like that". He also kept annoying me by saying this and that team was, "interesting", without elaborating further. Kenny had to keep asking him "interesting as in a good or bad way?"
