    Jesus,
lets worry about getting him on our team first before we worry about him leaving.

i guess it depends on how well his teamates (steve) treat him.

It's been discussed before. Basically, after 4 years as a Rocket, Houston will have Yao Mings Full Bird Rights and can make him a Max offer. Most other teams will only have their MCE and only a few will have some big $. It is somewhat like Webbers situation. Many wanted him him, few could afford him.

For that summer, the Knicks already have ~$29m committed to Allen Houston and Shandon Anderson plus a $7m team option on Eisley. This plus the guaranteed 1st round picks over the next 4 summers and filling out the roster....I wouldn't even bother to lose 1 minute of sleep over it.

I have a feeling that if we're loyal to china and yao and the sharks, than they will be loyal to us.

Yao Ming appears to have great loyalty. The game to him is not as much about money as it might be to others. If Houston treats him right I don't see him going anywhere else. He is not looking for the "spotlight". He is looking to improve his game and win. He can do that in Houston. I would be "shocked" if he left Houston for a different team.

Nationally, people don't know how big an Asian community we have here. My father tells me that the chinese papers in circulation in Houston are covering the Ming story daily, and that the Asian business community is excited about his arrival.

I think Ming will be just fine in Houston.

Plus since China and the CBA is getting a nice chunk of his cash, you'd think that they would want him to play where he can get the most $$$$.

Characterwise, he seems unlikely to jump ship. Seems like a loyal guy and team player.

Hard to find those in professional sports.

The Asian market thing is a bit overrated; I see Yao being very loyal to us. I'm Chinese, so I think I can speak with some candor about this subject, bt as we grow older, we generally hate to move around. Besides, our Asian population is pretty sizeable.
