From the info I've been able to gather our draft is gonna look like this: First off, we own Toronto's 1st and 2nd rounders this year. We will most likely be in the lotto this year as well. The first rounder we owe Atlanta will most likely be paid with Detroits 1st rounder from the Turkan trade, so that shouldn't affect us much. But what might is the 1st rounder we owe Memphis for the Francis trade. That pick is lotto protected but I'm not sure on whether they'll take the one Toronto owes us. If anyone knows, please add. Also, Chicago owes us two 2nd rounders for the Drew trade that doesn't have a specified year. Memphis also owes us a future 2nd rounder. New York also commented that they would give us "future compensation" if Rice is unable to play a certain amount of games and we all know he is out for the season, although I think it's for a different injury. If anyone knows what "future compensation" we might get, or if it even applies here, please add.
For those of us who like pretty numbers and summaries (using drpepper's analysis): PICKS OWED TO ROCKETS: TORONTO - 1st (2002- lotto protected), 2nd DETROIT - 1st CHICAGO - (2) 2nd MEMPHIS - 2nd NEW YORK - possible pick PICKS ROCKETS OWE TO OTHER TEAMS: MEMPHIS - 1st ATLANTA - 1st According to NBAdraft.net (which cannot claim 100% accurate info): FIRST ROUND PICKS: - Atlanta receives a future Detroit first-round pick (2002-2004, Detroit's option) (Turkcan) via Houston (Terence Morris trade 062701) - Houston receives Toronto's 2002 first-round pick (lotto protected) (Olajuwon trade 080201) - Memphis receives Houston's 2002 first-round pick (lottery protected) (Francis) SECOND ROUND PICKS: - Houston receives Memphis' second-round pick (year unknown) - Houston receives 2 future Chicago second-round picks (Bryce Drew trade 092800) - Houston receives Toronto's 2002 second-round pick (Olajuwon trade 080201) - Milwaukee receives Houston's 2002 second-round pick. Whatever we can do to move up and get Mike Dunleavy (or Yao Ming!!!), assuming Eddie G is not our future SF (instead, PF or C) . . . Perhaps do another 3 for one deal?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......to hate a college player yet simultaneously realize they have skill! Dunleavy seems to be at least as good a player as Mike Miller was, and I'd definitely take that kind of production out of a mid-lotto pick. BTW, I think there is a thread on this subject every two or three days. Not that it isnt useful info, but I dont think anything has changed since.
How can you hate Dunleavy? He's one of the least offensive guys I've ever seen on a basketball court. I really like Dunleavy, but it's scary how inconsistent he can be. Like last night... didn't show up for the entire first half. Then, wham! 19 points in the second. I also remember one series where he stole the ball on three consecutive maryland possessions, only to miss his next couple of shots and turn it over. He's a very good player, but he seems to lack confidence and consistency.
